I was boosting 2 mages, with 2 60 levels mages. Started at level 11 and got to level 29, seemed to be going ok - but I hoped for faster.
This was switching between 60 torment/master games
What a fool I am, I decided to try a lvl 29 torment 6 game - and now the EXP is flying!! if only i realised sooner.
Don't make the same mistake i did :)

There was a similar "If you're more than X levels greater or lesser than the mob's level, xp is reduced by Y%" in Diablo 2, but it wasn't impactful enough to stop people from getting to hell cows at level 5 and being PLed that way. Perhaps they stepped up the reduction for D3!

I went from 11-29 in about 2 hours in 60 torment 1
I went from 29-57 in under and hour in 29-57 torment 6 (and I missed the 100% exp buff)
I'm finding the second part of the very first quest, kill the witches for a HUGE bonus in torment 6, lots of slow moving melee only zombie packs. Very easy to multi-box and gain loads of exp. I will do this up to lvl 60.
Then I will consider when I'm going to buy 3 more expansions, played new expansion on one toon for about 3 hours - lvl 68, but team couldn't clear last boss (so close), I had to go to bed.

I created a team of all crusaders, so no 100% xp buff. I progressed them to A Royal Audience on Torment I and have been running that nonstop to 60. Now, I'll just keep progressing the story.
When I get around to finishing off my wizards, I'll definitely boost them and try out what you've been doing in A1 at T6.

Started to boost a crusader, lvl 21 by the time I got to the black smith quest to see his wife, took about 10 minutes. Torment6 :D

I believe pet classes are great for boosting. do damage with the lowbies. then finish the mob using higher level pets not in the lowbies group. just make sure you dont use any spells, melee, or ranged weapons from the pets masters and the lowbies gain 100% of the exp. not a percentage.

I don't think the whole pet class trick applies to D3.
That said, a WD would probably equal pretty lazy boosting, and might be safer for the boost-ee. I'll have to give it a try at some point.
I did a cru / WD to 50 or so by making a level 1 game with the cru on torment 6, then inviting my level 60 monk/wiz. Somewhere after that keeping the cru/wd alive during boosting got hit-or-miss, so I turned down the difficulty and just played the 4 until they caught up. My 60's weren't geared out or anything though, ymmv.
Wish I had realized this trick worked back when the EXP bonus was in effect. This is going to make experimenting with various combo's much quicker. The most painful part of making a strafe or ww team is leveling to the point where the play-style that inspired you to play the team is viable!

There was a good boosting post buried in the ellay thread by noth1n regarding using the act 4 hell rift in adventure mode. It's not quite as fast as just escorting them through act 1 on torment six but the alts never die so it's less annoying to do since the boosters can sit at the way point and get credit.

Thanks for the crosspost on this Ishar, I find it very useful as well and will probably go that route. The other thread I've turn into one large blog post ><

quick, semi-related question:
I have my main account with a few level 70s. I also have 3 other accounts with level 3 crusader on each.
Now I want to use my level 70 crusader to boost the 3 lowbies, but I want to do it on torment 6. Can I use a level 1 on my main account to create a T6 game, invite the lowbies, then switch the level 1 to a level 70 and have a level 1 t6 game to boost in?
Also, can I play adventure mode? (rifts for shards) or does each of them need to first kill act V boss?
Edit: at work so can't test it myself :)

Not sure about what you suggest, but you could make an end-boss game with your main and invite the level 1's in - they complete and now have access to story mode and I think torment levels
You could even have them leave the game after being invited in - have of them resume it, and invite everyone back in for a level 1 boss fight - I THINK :)

Just do the Act IV: "Clear the Hell Rift" bounty runs. It's the fastest EXP right now.
Asuming you have 4 accounts with at least 1 lvl70 char in each, and u want to boost new chars on each to 70:
Create a Torment VI game on each lvl70 char (no party).
Check on each character if u have the quest (just mouseover the list of bounties for Act IV).
If no character has the quest, leave game and create a new one until you get it on any char.
Once u have the quest, have all other chars join that game.
Leave game on all the characters (max 3) u wanna power level and switch them to low level chars, but leave them in the lobby.
With the lvl70 left ingame, rush thru Hell Rift lvl1 (dont kill anything) and go lvl2. Clear everything but a couple white mobs. It's very easy since all are white mobs. Every once in a while u will get a purple unique boss which is not hard to kill, but if u are too weak, u might wanna lower the difficulty.
Once u have just a few mobs left, join game with the 3 chars u wanna power level and teleport to the lvl70 char.
Kill the last mobs in lvl2. That will give u the bounty reward for all your chars. With pools at lvl70 its 80m exp and like 420k gold.
I've done all my chars/classes like this in just a day. It's very easy and fast to do. U gain a ton of exp and also gold. Sometimes u can get a Cursed Chest which can be as easy as killing 5 white mobs or 3 elites. If u get the elites, just leave game. It gives like 20m more exp.
