Hello, I've been trying to use keyclone in the following multi-monitor setup:
left monitor (1280x1024 resolution) split into 4 pieces (off1,off2,off3,off4) evenly
right monitor (1920,1200 resolution) one single piece (main)

For the most part, this works. Everything starts up correctly, and loads into place. However, sometimes when I use my PiP switch keys, one of the windows will move to the wrong screen. Usually, it is the main window moving to the upper left window on the second monitor (off1). Occasionally, off4 will move to the off1 position. I have not been able to find a pattern as to why this happens. I have also noticed that when one of the windows moves to the incorrect position, other windows will shuffle around. for example:
starting:
[1][2] [main]
[3][4]

will become
[1,2][3] [main]
[4][empty]

or
[1][2] [main]
[3][4]

will become

[1,main][2] [blank]
[3][4]

Note that in my computer, monitor #1 is the smaller monitor on the left, and monitor number 2 is the monitor on the right, but monitor 2 is the windows primary monitor.

A second issue, first seen after patch 2.4 came out, is that loading the windows works fine, but changing between them causes an odd graphics slowdown to about 3 fps on the main window. This doesn't seem to happen unless I have all 5 copies of wow open.

Edit:

I remembered something that seemed to trigger the window moving behaviour. After testing, I found out that if I apply any configuration change (such as removing a key from the round robin list), it seems to trigger this every time.
To replicate, start up all the windows as indicated. Make a config change in the round robin section, and apply. I had the order slightly wrong initially. The windows will juggle from
[off1][off2] [main]
[off3][off4]

to

[off1,off2][off3] [Blank]
[off4][main]

additionally, the main window will be resised to match the size that off4 should have been. This is stacking off2 below off1.

I had the same thing happen, but I noticed fast why. Its if your active window is a different one than your main one (like if you alt tab, click in a diff one, or use focus follows mouse) and then hit a pip key then it will think your currently active one is the main one and switch accordingly.
I'm pretty certain this is the problem you are having.
Find it out :)

No, I've noticed that too, and that's not a problem. I think that's intentional. See the edit I just added to my post. I think I figured out what is triggering it.

Ah, I also had a problem with one of my windows suddenly changing size, not sure how it happened, but starting them all over, even better using commands in keyclone, fixed it and haven't had it happen in a long time.

windows moving after config change... yup, i saw that one... and it's on the list for next release

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it happened if I tried to change settings in keyclone/maximizer while the WoW's were running.

Could you elaborate how you setup this configuration with 2 monitors of a different size/resolution.

Are you using Nvidia Dual screen mode? Doesn't that kill frame rate?

Thx

Personally I'm only using one monitor.

keyclone's maximizer will work with different displays in whatever resolution you have it set for... if you have it set for dual view. if you do spanning, that changes things a bit, but keyclone will still work with it (in horizontal spanning... vertical would looked squashed)

as for frame rates... depends on the drivers. i run dual view with no real problems

I've actually been noticing odd frame rate issues with my 2 clones and was going to ask you about it, Key.

I have a Dual Processor AMD system with a single geForce 8600 GT video card.

This machine is my clone machine and is running 2 accounts. I split the screen horizontally, so that the top half is Clone A and bottom Half is Clone B. Both clones have the exact same screen size. I only have a 19" display running at 1280 x 1024. So I split the screen to 2 identical 1280 x 512 screens. (Actually a little less due to the task bar, but that's not important) Now I set each clone to run off one specific processor. Clone A on CPU 0 and Clone B on CPU 1. I always start with launching Clone A and then launching Clone B.

What I notice is that the top screen, the first client I launch, has a much chopper frame rate then the second clone, the bottom half of the screen. now so far this hasn't been a problem, but I figure in the future it might. Is this typical behavior?

is the top clone choppy when its not the active window, but gets better when active?

hit ctrl-r .. see the frames/sec ... if you set your maxfpsbk to something low, it could look choppy.

if you haven't, maybe you should. pushing over 60fps while in the background is a waste of cpu, gpu, system and graphics bus

try it and tell me what happens.

as an fyi.. good to compare your card to others:

Hrm, I'll try a few things out when I get out of work. It's a fairly new machine so I got the latest nvidia drivers as well. Not beta drivers, mind you. For now, I always get full release drivers because I'm not some overclocking fool. I stick to the specs. I don't mess with anything else.

I'll let you know.

windows moving after config change... yup, i saw that one... and it's on the list for next releaseAwesome. Any info on the framerate thing? The drop to about 3 fps after a window switch is new as of 2.4 patch of wow.

To elaborate, when I switch off1 and main in my setup, off1 runs at 3fps on the main window while active. When I switch it back, main and off1 run at normal fps.

One more thing I've noticed.

Every time I alt-tab into firefox, my keystrokes stop working until I click on all the copies of wow again.

Okay, KeyClone, the framerate issue I brought up must be how I set up my Clients. I realized that the client that had focus was going at 45 fps, and the client that did not have focus was down to 15 fps. And it turns out, these are exactly the min and max I set up for both clones in KeyClone. So i figure I just need to bump up the fps to something like 25 and then it won't look so jittery to me. So nevermind, my bad.
