Hi Guys,

I finally broke down and got my fourth and fifth accounts for WoW, but I'm having a bit of a problem that I hope someone has some experience with. I noticed this with three accounts, but five on one box is just plain old broken.

Getting on an alliance boat or horde blimp(whatever it's called) when crossing to another continent, the delay is so bad that the screen doesn't come out of the loading screen until it's too late and my toons take a round trip back to where they started ending up in a virtually loop where I never can get off of either transport. I'm running a 2.4 GHz Quad core system with three gigs of ram, but I suspect the delay is actually a network delay of some sort.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get around this other than just not putting all five on a boat at one time. That would kinda suck waiting around so much.

Johnny

Did you set the CPU affinity? By default WoW only uses 2 processors.

Hi There,

Imagine this....with a dual core CPU imagine its 2 processors in one, and with a quad core is like having 4 processors in one.

Assigning affinity is basicly selecting the wow client to use a part of the processor.

So in your case by setting the affinity you can make 4 clients assigned to each core of the processor = 4 clients = 4 sections to the processor
this helps with performance.

This is the most easy way of looking at it.

I've always had the affinity set to use all the cores on my quad... but I used to have REALLY bad boat lag to the point that I couldnt use boats (by the time it loaded, I had already gotten to my destination AND the boat was leaving again). What solved this was that I changed from using 5 folders of WoW, to just using 1 Folder for all my instances of WoW. Not sure if thats your problem, but its worth a try.

Great responses from everyone. I meant to put in the original post that I am using CPU affinity for each instance. When I was three boxing, I had each instance on processors 1,2 and 3. With five I was doubling up 0 and 1 but changed over and doubled 3 and 4 as I watched the load on each processor.

But anyway, I used to try to play multiple instances out of one WoW directory, but I remember getting some type of error on occsassion when trying to do that. I can give it another try and see what happens. Maybe running Keyclone will somehow prevent that error from coming up.

Thanks for the responses,

Johnny
