Wanted to know if anyone had experience that could recommend a product. Here’s what I’m looking for.
- 8 Camera system (Options to add more cameras in future)
- I.P Cam’s (wired) with night vision.
- Recording goes to a premise based DVR (Not cloud)
- Online viewing available with smart phone app compatibility.
- Able to view multiple cameras at the same time.
- Price under $1k (yes, the quality will suffer in this budget).

Doing some research I’ve found several things that meet most but not all the requirements. If I go with an older Analog BNC cabled kit, I can get all of this. However BNC is expensive and old. Prefer I.P For something more moderate and for future scalability to add more in future.

Currently looking in to this but thought I’d ask if any of you had experience with something like this. I have deployed DropCam’s, which are awesome. However the DVR system is cloud based with a subscription cost per month. Plus they are Wireless. I’d prefer wired and forgo say buying an aero hive commercial grade Access point to handle all that WIFI communication.

Appreciate any experience you have.

Thanks

Was at Costco and they had a few different systems like this for that price and lower. Also the business Costco had more of the higher end with more cameras. Haven't seen any other store with a good selection, not even Best Buy.

Thanks John,

I read good things about Costco support performing my search.

I also found out you can Convert BNC to CAT-5 and back. Which is cool. However BNC = video only, vs. CAT-5 Camera you get audio, video, PoE. So You'd still have to run RCA and power going with BNC, doh!

Been contacting a couple vendors getting some helpful info. There's products out there like what i'm looking for that's wireless. Theres a 4 Camera Product out now that's 720P but is limited to 4 cams. Zmodo is working on a 8 cam system, no release date yet. I think in a year or two it will be more common place to find something. Surprised Analog video has held on as long as it did.

I have so many wireless things I am worried I might be living in a cancer hot spot.
