Hopefully the re-certified SSD drive is just an unused return and not a warranty exchanged drive.

The AMD chip has better integrated graphics, but if you plan on buying a ~$500 video card, that won't matter. The AMD chip is weak on CPU power vs the intel. I think it's going to be weak if you plan to multibox, and just ok for normal gaming. You have a nice high end video card, with a very low end CPU.

- intel CPU is way ahead of AMD in performance terms if the rig is intended for heavy gaming.

- consider getting an R290 or 290X instead of the 7970 (semi dual) because a single card will always give you less problems

I agree that the AMD chip is pretty weak in comparison to anything Intel has offered in the last 3 years. Intel's 2600K which was released Q1 2011 is faster (http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_a10_6800k_review_apu,18.html) (and most likely way better for multiboxing because of Hyper-Threading) than the AMD 6100K.

It's difficult to find benchmarks with this CPU and a discrete GPU because all reviews are testing it's APU against low-end Intel chips and their IGP -- Bot of which that would get you nowhere with multiboxing.

Yes, the R290 is a bit better than a 7970 (which was re-badged to a 280X), but the 7970 isn't a dual-GPU card.

So, I'm looking into a rig with 12 cores at 2.7 Ghz vs a rig with 6 cores at 3.6 Ghz. What do you guys think would have the best multiboxing performance given equal Ram and graphics cards? What bottlenecks would you look for? How many accounts could one expect to run?
You'd have to list out the entire computer for anyone to identify any bottlenecks, but you should start a new thread with those details.

Leo, thank you. Just sent him an email :]
My last rig I put together was 2011 and I have not been really looking at parts since.
