Has anyone had any luck with these in their group? Right now I'm looking at finishing my team up to 90 (11 man team) and I'm looking at swapping out my holy priest and Windwalker monk to disc and MW and having my Druid spam wrath once he hits 90 and gets the talent for it.
Does anyone have any strong impressions of how this works one way or another? I'd like to try and make my healing as smart as possible and get my raid DPS up. I'm mulling over how much I need to weave in HoTs, have my tanks focus on self heals, that sort of thing.
Also, how does gear for that typically work? Do you focus on DPS gear, or stick to the healing stuff?

There are videos of a 4-boxer only playing disc priests on youtube.
He plays instances in lfg with a random tank only dps with the 4 disc priests while Atonement heals the group and the tank.
Sometimes he puts a renew or a shield on the tank when there is heavy damage incoming but most of the time he only DPS.
I don't know if he can get a solid DPS with a disc priest but he doesn't need to focus on heals and he got 4xDPS instead of 3xDPS and 1xHeal with 0 DPS.

its been awhile..but i did a tank ( cant remember what tank.. i think bear ) and 4 disc priests all the way to 80 and it was super easy. Atonement/smite healing is OP! that plus disc bubbles makes it so easy its boring 8)

DEFINITELY switch your priest to disc, even without smart heals disc priests are much stronger than holy right now. I'm not sure how much dps you are going to get out of a MW at low gear levels, probably not a lot. Unlike disc priests, fistweaving monks can do a lot more dps, but by doing a ton less healing. Wrath spam from resto druids does almost no healing (I have a friend who queued with me as a healer a couple of weeks ago but it being lfr wasn't much to heal so he "dps"ed).
The best way to get the dps of your team up is probably to get good trinkets on your actual damage dealers and focus on their gear, rather than hoping an extra 25k from a healer will make a big difference.

Hit 90 yesterday, and spent all day at the timeless isle. After gearing up to mostly 480~, it looks like the dps on my disc priest is actually pretty high for some reason, at least short term. Wrath spam is less impressive, but still gets the job done. Of course, timeless isle mechanics seem to all be about learning to DODGE, so that's not really surprising I guess.
Did the first trash pull in SoO flex, and got smacked for lack of healing, so obviously I need to do something a bit smarter and passive healing won't cut it.

I double and triple box LFR regularly. I often use one of my resto druids on follow who queues as heals to get my dps'ers quicker queues. Coincidentally he ends up first or at least top 3 on healing meters the vast majority of the time too. I use Dream of Cenarius and he pretty much just spams Wrath for heals, and casts Force of Nature, mushroom, mushroom bloom, and other cds when available. Works real well. I constantly look and I have yet to ever see another resto druid playing atonement-ish like I do. It's kinda unrecognized as viable, and probably is subpar in say... Normals, but LFR? Kicks ass

I'll have to look in to that. Been just doing wrath spam with moonfire dot. Was thinking of making some mouseover macros to add a level of urgency for heavy incoming damage.

I have done all disc priest and it was hella slow, currently do single disc priest (atonement is what we are talking about here) when I grind. The mechanic of course goes to shit when the priest is locked up in any fashion where it cannot do damage or damage is reduced.
Melee mistweaver is fun.
You know where you cap out in hps vs dps, you won't have any issues. There are some numbers on just how much you can get numbers out of a monk and smite priest. I forgot, I think it was ~13,000 per second.
In situations like lets say Patchwerk (tank and soak example), and you have a single healer. You might find that the way the damage comes in the smart heals on the tank and the off tank are delayed and you're in trouble.
This is because it is looking at who needs healing most in way that isn't always helpful to keeping a tank up.
Another such example is if your dps characters are too close to your tank and you really don't "need" them healed, they will be stealing heals from the tank at times and put the tank at risk.
But of course this is cruise control grind rotation combat, you will obviously play better when actually needing to. Just saying how it works out if that wasn't apparent.

I find this entire post of hpavc confusing. 6 year priest main talking.
In heroics where I don't do any healing other than bubble, pom, and atonement I do about 75-80k dps on my disc priest at 560 ilevel. I don't remember it ever being below 40k. Not sure where you're pulling 13k from?
There are no patchwerk healing fights any more where 2 regular hits can kill the tank, the way that health pools work now is different from BC. When the tank gets low the atonement heals them. I've never in my life worried that atonement was being "wasted" healing a dps. If a tank is low and atonement isn't enough then I switch to direct penances, pain suppressions, flash heals, but thats a function of atonement not being enough healing not atonement getting wasted or stolen. If (as a priest) you have multiple members of the group really low, you should be casting aoe heals and not atonement.

There is a macro i got from the Lazy Macro's website that does all that, been using it on my druid while leveling, just deleted the line that I did not have spells for, seems to work pretty good, tried it on a 90 druid in SoO, but seemed to run out of mana over prolonged fights, even with innervate going off.
