Cross-Realm BOA Items on PTR

Let's hope this makes it live.

In the latest 5.4.2 PTR build, we are testing the new ability to mail account-bound items to other characters on your account that may be on different servers. Notably, this should allow you to move heirlooms between servers, in advance of our planned Warlords changes that will make them fully account-wide.

Sending this sort of mail should work like any cross-server communication: You send the item to "Playername-Servername" and it should otherwise work like regular mail. Note that you can only send account-bound items, and not other items or gold.

Example: I have a character, Thrall, on the Benedictus server. I want to send my heirloom mace to my alt, Durotan, on the Lycanthoth server. I'd log in as Thrall, and attach the mace to a mail addressed to "Durotan-Lycanthoth" and hit send.

We'd appreciate any feedback or bug reports on this new feature so that we can address any issues prior to the release of 5.4.2. But even without direct feedback, just logging into PTR and mailing account-bound items across servers should give us useful data to help confirm that the feature is working as intended. Thanks!

Not until the next expansion or, possibly, the pre-launch patch.

I imagine they might just delete all the heirlooms from bags and just have the new interface.

But I guess losing enchants may piss people off, so they probably won't do that.

Hopefully the interface makes it easy to see which items are already purchased, so farming should be easy as pie.

It be like mount/pets any clone ones go puff. There is a ss that was at blizzcon. That showed them grey if u not got them. If they let the players add the items it be like wotlk pre patch......

This might mean easy duplication across multiple battle.nets for boxers. I wonder what will happen if you withdraw a copy of each heirloom on one character and then transfer that character between battle.nets. Do the heirlooms/toys unlock on the new one?

If so, very nice. If not, it might make sense to manually split them up beforehand where you have duplicates.

Much like account wide mounts caused an issue with people selling a full slate of mounts before they fixed that, I wonder how they're going to avoid a similar fiasco with this.

They could just treat it like in-game mail. If your character has any (mail in their mailbox) heirlooms either equipped or in their inventory, then you cannot transfer that character.

It Could BOP when you take them out the UI. (or some some system where u can not take put them back in)

or what MiRai (http://www.dual-boxing.com/members/24666-MiRai) says. All i can say it do it before the prepatch if you got doubles and want exata looms on a 2nd battle.net

the topic is more that you don't need to pat $$$ to move server you might already have the class have but to play on a server somewhere else...... with friends or new boxers but got no looms unless u pay $$$$$ and move then with you...


Or maybe i read the hole topic wrong and its about leveling new chars on the same realm where you can already use the looms.........

This would be awesome. My toons on Illidan have two gbanks full of timeless isle gear they can't use, and I have 4+ "utility" alts (as Iike to call them) on my 16th account on various servers - one PVE for phasing myself over to do world bosses, one dead server for farming rares (9x 300% xp elixirs I can't mail), couple random warlocks in remote locations to summon my raid over, etc....

They could all make very good use of timeless isle gear (instant 496 toon + burden upgrades), xp elixirs to level up and other toons I want, and the heirlooms which are all on Illidan, even though I could phase over and powerlevel a couple of the utility alts I can't get them heirlooms or xp elixirs without server changes.

Yeah... this is exciting. my druid on stormrage, would love to keep her there because I use her weekly to get celestials (and previously nalak/oondasta, although those areas are now dead enough even on Illidan I just solo them there), and eventually ordos once I finish my two cloaks, but she needs some of that timeless gear... the warlock/rogue/priest on various servers could also make use of that gear, heirlooms, and xp pots.

Yeah, this could be very convenient. Now, if only I could mail them gold :/
