Hi, I'm Clank.

There, I feel much better now that that's out of the way.
Anywho, I came here to say hi, post my setup, and get to know some of you. I have been lurking for about 6 months now, today is my first time posting.
My plan is to PvE 5-box. I might try PvP, but I'd rather level one group before I try to start something else.

I am running 5 clients on one PC, and only one monitor. I originally really wanted another monitor, but I seem to be working out alright having mini windows for my followers.
My computer specs are: Q6600, 4GB DDR2 800 (well 3.5GB due to x86 :P ), 8800GT, Samgsung 226BW 22"

My group: Tankadin, Priest, Mage, Lock, Lock
Sounds like a normal 5-man group to me, nothing exciting here. :)
I was going for ease of use and minizing the amount of microing. I play the paladin tank as my main.
For healing, I target the group member, and hit which heal/shield I need. (either nomod, alt, or ctrl)
Shift key for additional DPS functions. (diff spells/refreshes/powerups)

OVERALL KEY SETUP:
1. My primary masher key. If I target a friendly person, my priest tosses a renew. With [Alt] held down she does a little heal. With [Ctrl] she does a large heal.
2 - My secondary spells key
3 - Stuns
4 - Insta DPS
5 - Big Boom
6 - AOE

Notes:
I use AutoHotKeys to broadcast across my instances.
I have affinity setup so Main + 1st alt are on cores 1&3, then alts 2,3,4 are on cores 2&4
I just moved all my alts to one WoW install, I will see if that helps load times.
One warlock will keep his imp out for the stam buff, the other will sacrifice his pet for dmg buff.

I would LOVE any critiques on ways to run things better.

Also, thank you to all those who contribute tidbits of information. They really helped me a lot with planning out how to run things.

G'evening Clank and welcome to the forums!

your macros look about right.. but you might want to check the macros section for minimap targetting capability (useful for aoe type spells - blizzard, flamestrike, etc)

do you have a macro to push focus change when your main dies? makes life a lot easier. you using keyclone? leader focus change combined with pip swap makes life pretty sweet for a single boxing, multi-instace'r :D

don't forget to post a pic (with machine specs underneath) in the screen shots section to give us all an idea what you got going on.

This might give you problems, your pets may keep attacking wrong targets. I kept the CTRL keys for the pets, CTRL+1 for pet attack and CTRL+2 for pet follow. I have my alts assisting first and then I hit the pet attack button.

If you use AHK some of the example scripts in the AHK sticky automatically trigger your assist macro on each key press, so when the tank engages your group will auto assist and then you can hit the pet attack button without needing to worry about assists.

Ok, after giving it some thought. I think I am going to change my group around a little.
I already have a lvl 70 warlock, a lvl 70 priest(with shadow gear), and a lvl 62 shaman. My main (70 raiding mage) is not going to be part of the boxing group, he would just pull aggro on anything.

I am debating on the following to follow a tankadin.
RShaman, Mage, Mage, Mage (ai + mana tide)(4 chars to level)
RShaman, SPriest, Mage, Mage (ai + fort + mana tide)(3 chars to level)
RShaman, SPriest, Mage, Lock (ai + fort + mana tide + soulstone + blood pact)(2 char to level)
RDruid, SPriest, Mage, Lock (paw + brez + fort + ai + soulstone + blood pact)(3 chars to level)

With proper planning/macroing how tough would it be to instance with a:
Tankadin, Resto Shaman, Shadow Priest, Ice Mage, Destro Lock

This is the setup I an leaning towards, since it gives me my mage, and I only have to level a mage and a lock.
PROS: Good buffs, CC, Mana Regen, Spriest/Lock Synergy, Ankh+Soulstone, 3 Rezzers
CONS: 5 Different Classes

I'm actually trying a 5 different class setup as well. I have the standard 5x Shammy team that I screw around with, but my actual PVE team I'm leveling (which only hit level 10 last night though, btw) is the following:

Protection Paladin Tank
Disc/Holy Priest (Swappable with my Restoration Shaman on my 5x Shammy team since they are on the same account, I love Resto Shammys)
Boomkin Druid
Frost Mage
BM Hunter

It's kind of a crazy setup doing 5 different classes, but since they are all casters/ranged, you can still just map similar abilities together. You might lose some efficiency though since its less likely that the cast times will be on the same page. It's throwing in melee that really puts a wrench in the whole thing.

I intend to refine my macros and such along the way, but I think it's doable.
