View Full Version : [WoW] I'm constantly being reported for boting

Hey there, I was wondering if anyone has the same problem, and if anything has ever occurred from it. Since I've gotten my three hunters to 90, I'm constantly getting whispers from other players stating that they are reporting me for boting. Now I'm not running any programs other than ISBoxer. I know I'm not doing anything illegal, but my question is will blizzard cancel my accounts if I get to many complaints?

I've never had a problem with harrassers myself, everyone has always just been curious.
If by some chance you do get suspended you would be able to have it overturned easily by putting in your own ticket explaining the situation. It's unlikely though, blizzard has a hard time banning REAL botters based on user reports. They want to have 100% proof before they action someone, and a random guy saying someone is botting doesn't hold much

Some people are jealous or misinformed or whatever.
You can report yourself to a GM.
Basically say that you're boxing, and there is zero unattended play, you're in control of everything that occurs, etc.
Some GMs have said they can put a note on your character, and others have said that functionality doesn't exist.
As long as you're not botting, you'll be fine no matter how many losers claim to be reporting you.
Occasionally, in some games a lower/newer GM takes action against an account, but that is rare; and is also resolved once you escalate to a higher/more-senior GM who knows that boxing is fine within most games.
You can get addons so people below a level threshold cannot whisper you.
That is particularly good, if you kill opponents in PvP (world, battleground, arena, whatever).
People decide to compliment your abilities, by making a toon of your faction on your server to curse at you.
Either ignore them or remain polite (or get the addon, that forces them to be above whatever level (set it to 5th or whatever) before they can curse at you), don't be rude as they can report you for that.
You can make a hotkey:
/r I'm boxing, and in control of every action. There is no bot action. For more information, check out www.dual-boxing.com and www.isboxer.com
Make whatever hotkey you want.
If you decide to reply, you can tap that once to anyone who whispers you.
You can also ignore them.
I've found I had a lot of curious people.
And some haters.
In general the positive/curious outnumbered the negative/rude by a fair margin.

I probably wouldn't worry about it if I were you - just don't argue or inflame the situation if you get tells - just relay the attitude like you're having fun, even if you aren't. I've been boxing for a long time, I must have been reported 100's of times, and never even had a GM whisper me about it. I've had people post threads on the forums, but those typically get closed after a while - I stay out of those too.
When people bitch at me, or try and claim victory, I just say - "I'm having a blast, gg" (even when I'm frustrated). Then I make sure to plant a flag of ownership in their !#%!#% corpse as I camp them the next half dozen times they spawn.
Also, trying to chat while boxing probably gets me killed more than anything else- I always forget to turn something back on.
It also goes without saying that Ualaa's advice is excellent as well, just a personal preference I guess.

Thank you very much to all of you. Your advice was extremely helpful in easing my worries. I will be using all of your advice in the future:cool:

I always explain I am not botting. My 4 other cats are controlling them.

Being reported has always been par for the course. I don't recall the last time I had someone try in get in a whisper war with me, but there was a while where I constantly had my toons set as /dnd It's called multiboxing. I'm not cheating, I'm not selling anything blah blah blah. If you have a real question, ask after the beep. or something like that. Most people who are going to report me just do it quietly.
If they're whispering you, they probably already know you're not botting. They're looking to get you to into an argument so they can report you for harassment or vulgarity, which they know you can be actioned for a lot easier. Blizzard isn't going to ban you just because people like to pick on you and they're sick of seeing your name.

THIS! is what I do
my accounts have been open since 2007 boxing from WOTLK I had a few gm /w to me but they just was board or something. I would hate to think how many time I been reported to be fair.
I boxed Betas and PTRS as well where a lot of Q&A/devs/Cm's staff have seen me/played with me. A lot love It and like to watch.
I even had a few players banned for 3 days for using to much bad Lang and going "nuts" at me. kinda funny.
There used to be a site where you could post the rage.

I think it depends on GM.
One of my 6 accounts was suspended a while ago, first time ever. Boxing the AH, people sooking every day in /2, in psts in mail in anyway possible and went on for weeks. then I got suspended, was for using third party software, I sent a ticket in, explained what I was doing, muliboxing etc, it was over turned short time after.
Was annoying it had happened in the first place, and seems yes blizzard has no real idea for some reason in who is really botting or not.
We still have 2 known botters on our realm, smallish realm, who bot ore, and have had happily for a good 6 months, no matter how much people report them and alot of people to bring it up alot. that they never get banned. Yet when you do not bot, never had, you get banned/suspended for it, go figure.

Gamemasters can not ban accounts even temp they have to get someone that's been there over 2 years (head GM staff) to log in the game and check to make sure that it is a bot before they do. Then they give the ban hammer.
Some Gold Sellers use the same muti accounts "same Email" to get round Trading gold so it seems you got added on that list. as it was on account it would of been a automated system anyway. bans they normally do at email level.

I only had one guy go out of his way to really harass me about multi-boxing. He put me on his friend list I think so it would tell him when I logged on. This was back before the real-id implementation. I found it really odd that there were some people who went to Batman levels of obsession to take it upon themselves to try and force people to play to their vision of the game.
It went on for about a week and a half when the vitriol stepped up one day and that's when I reported him with all 5 of my accounts. Never heard another whisper from that guy about an hour after the report.
My go-to reply to the haters was always a version of "I'm playing the same game you are." I did my best to imply that if only basement virgins played the game like they said I was, then they must be one too.
GM's don't mark or flag an account. There is simply a ticket history. If the next gm doesn't bother to look at the previous tickets then they will not see that you are a multi-boxer. Many will pull up your account when a ticket comes in and see that there are dozen's even hundreds of tickets possibly and instantly think "problem account" and slap an early ban.

It took hundreds of reports this expansion for a GM to teleport/rollback my toons a couple times then send me a tell. I didn't have to even explain myself, I answered and he said ok you're good. Never heard from them again. That was 6 months ago.

Yeh!
it certainly was a shock when it happened, happened while I was in game posting actually in AH lol.
So I logged into my bnet, sent a ticket, actually sent a few but was not long before it was actioned and lifted.
Even had a GM who said he also mutliboxes pst me in game and spoke to me for quite some time. Was good convo, had some good convos with some GMS lately.
Anyway to the OP just enjoy boxing, ignore the jealous morons. Long as your not breaking any rules you should be fine.
I have had so many people on ignore, and recently a specific few I have lodged tickets against for constant abuse/harassment towards me in /2 for no reason. I barely ever even type in /2 so many damn trolls.

Yes, the irony that typing to one other person is rather hard for me to do. Can't walk and do it, that's for sure :)
There used to be a thread where people would post the choicer interchanges with the trolls... or maybe I'm thinking of ragewhispers.
I usually run into the trolls when I'm pulling multiple teams through things like the town fire event at Halloween. Have had a few recent gawkers on Timeless Isle, but no raging, and the occasional request to join my group. (Full , sorry)
Anyway, yeah, stay calm. I like a line I used on someone at Halloween. "Yup! Been doing this for 8 years and *finally* someone caught me. Welp, it was a good run!"
The name of the addon that rejects tells based on level and other useful tihngs is "Badboy". Ironically, Jamba's tell forwarding happily sends the tell through to my main (if they send to a slave), and IHearYouAll still beeps on tells that I don't see. Ah well, some processing order out of whack or some such.

i just link a something from 2008 and say really? when they say there going to "report me". Normal players now a days just love my name when am doing 2's and i don't have them all logged in i always get where buttercup?
I've been reported many times. My slave got GM's whisper and asked to type some "words" to prove whether i'm a bot. Afterall, everything go fine~
