View Full Version : [HotkeyNet] Moving character with WASD across multiple windows

The game I'm trying to play is Spiral Knights and I can't get HotkeyNet to properly move two characters in sync with one another. The problem, of course, is that HotkeyNet doesn't seem to be able to properly send commands to windows in the background. If I'm holding down the 'W' key to move forward, for example, it will briefly send one command to the background window before returning to the main window. This causes the second character to only take one step each time I press 'W' instead of running forward smoothly. I need some way to constantly send to my background window that I am still holding down the 'W' key.

Am I missing something or is HotkeyNet simply not able to do this? Do I have to switch to one of the premium programs like GameCommanderPro or ISBoxer? Spiral Knights isn't a complex game so I really don't need much functionality in my multiboxing software other than to move around.

Almost all multiboxing depends on using a follow command, via the ingame interface, in order to deal with movement. Games without an ingame follow command are not good contenders for multiboxing as the slightest variation in facing, environment, lag, etc will cause the toons to veer off in different directions. Though there are exceptions {ex - Diablo 3}, games that do not provide a follow command or allow background interaction are good signs that multiboxing is not permitted.

As far as this game in particular, I have different GM posts saying multiboxing with the use of software is not allowed in the game.

you may log in multiple clients at the same time, however, you may not use software in order to control the secondary character in any way. If you want to multibox Spiral Knights, you need to do so manually by swapping between clients and operating within the TOS.

Oh, well. Ignoring the TOS limits, I'm 99.9% certain that Spiral Knights doesn't utilize any type of follow command which would make it technically impossible to do anyways. I'll have to be satisfied with some type of quick switch script to quickly rotate through the four characters and manually control them. Thanks for the reply. Consider this topic closed.

I'm not suggesting boxing with software in a game that doesn't want you to do that.

But if you look at Diablo III, it's possible to box the game without a /follow ability.
So, as long as the game allows boxing...
Follow is not essential, but without follow you're choosing a hard-mode game with a handicap.
