View Full Version : [ISBoxer] Pro Config is in fact worth it

After at least a year of half-hearted false starts I realized that the only clean way for me to do on the fly spec-switching would be to actually implement a pro config and now that I have it I agree that it is in fact worth it.

Anyone else using Isboxer that has been too lazy and confused to switch really should give it an honest attempt. Also, fair warning, if you decide you want to just modify the example script from the isboxer pro config tutorial, be warned that by default some of the keys on the keymap are marked as "advanced > this mapped key should start off when the key map is turned on"(we won't talk about how long this took me to figure out) and not every step has actually been implemented into that example so you still want to read along with the tutorial to make sure things match. (specifically I don't think the hot keys are set up to actually call the virtual combat keys).

For me the thing that makes it worth it is the idea that all of the class specific macros are loaded at all times, so that you don't need to /reload to change rotations.

My recommendation for spec swap is that each spec only call the other rather than trying to do a two step hot key.

Thanks for the help in the chat room as I popped in and out last week trying to get this working!

Yeah the user-contributed "CLS" configuration is sort of in an incomplete state and is definitely not up to date as far as all of its stored macros (my wife set up her monks with the CLS config, and we had to go through and fix a bunch of macros and a bunch of Key Maps first). For anyone who wants to go the Pro Config route I highly recommend watching my video and using the MMO - Pro style from the Quick Setup Wizard -- http://isboxer.com/wiki/Style:MMO_-_Pro, as opposed to the CLS configuration which will take extra effort to work correctly. It is really simpler to skip the CLS config and use the Quick Setup method, plus it'll be the same for any game ;)

The quick start doesn't seem to do anything in terms of actually creating and linking the individual keys in the keymaps together? Did I pick the wrong options? For me it just made empty keymaps.

If you had already-made "Combat Hotkeys" and/or "Virtual Combat" Key Maps, they may be left as-is. Otherwise, from a clean configuration, the Quick Setup Wizard creates all of the ones pictured in the link and demonstrated in my video.

Ok looking again, its "combat" that is blank and says "This is the generated Combat-oriented Key Map. It's actually empty by default, sorry about that!

Use the Mapped Key Wizard to easily send keys to other windows."

I guess that isn't part of the pro system.

Combat is blank - but check out "Combat Hotkeys." That's where all the Pro System action is. Combat Hotkeys map to virtual which is individually mapped to each member of your team. Think of polymorphism.
