FFXIV has a variety of gameplay duties to keep your multiboxing team busy:
*QUESTS – Your multiboxing team can come to the aid of the inhabitants of Eorzea and earn rewards.
*INSTANCED DUNGEONS – Show off your multiboxing prowess as you face the dangers of the realm’s darkest recesses, including burial grounds, haunted mansions, and abandoned mines.
*FULL ACTIVE TIME EVENTS (FATE) – These events tests your battle skills and pop up when you least expect them. You can choose whether or not your team will rise to the challenge and join the fray by simply crossing the event threshold.
*GUILDHESTS – These small-scale operations are given by the Adventurers’ Guild. Your mutiboxing team can combine forces with others, using teamwork to prevail in menacing battleground instances.
*GUILDLEVES – The Adventurers’ Guild issues tasks that vary greatly in nature. You’re likely to find something that suits your team, whether it’s battlecraft leves, fieldcraft leves, or tradecraft leves.
*CRAFTING – Create superior wares for your multiboxing team or seek your fortune as crafters.
*GATHERING – Fishers, miners, and botanists survey the land and gather natural resources as another option for your team to become prosperous.
Check out what it’s like to multibox FFXIV and get some great tips from MiRai in his new series of videos:

Game looks cool :)
Haven't spent a whole lot of time with it yet other than getting it to work with ISBoxer (which it does, by the way) but I do wish I didn't have to sit through 5-10 minutes of cut scenes in order to get a new character into the game ;) I suppose that's to be expected from Final Fantasy though.

Assuming people here on dual-boxing.com are also interested, mods can add an FFXIV sub-forum here as well

Early pre-order access starts on the 20th? I'm pretty sure it's on the 24th.
Also, Green Man Gaming has a 25% off sale:

Anyone who wants to play on the Japanese servers (game is still in English, but if you live in Asia, or Australia, better performance than US servers), I am on the Hades server.

Just an FYI, English speaking players on reddit chose Tonberry (http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1k1avi/petition_all_english_speaking_players_in_asia_to/) as the "official" non-Legacy server to play on. Masamune used to be a heavily populated English-speaking world back in 1.0 (it still seems that some Legacy players are staying on Masamune).

I've been in the last 2 betas and will be in early access starting Friday when servers open.
Given it's a sub-based game, I'm probably not gonna box for a while, but I've seen a few videos of people doing it already.

OMG reddit users. thanks for the warning. I will steer clear!

How do you guys rate this game, single or boxed? I have read some good reviews, but I'm more interested in what DB players have to say.

Not sure if you guys have seen this, but it seems interesting. Might be able to box without having to actually purchase the game and pay subs for each one.

I really like FFXIV and boxing. its NOT WoW... and its not even RIFT in terms of how easy it is, but believe me, FFXIV has some great features, and reasons to play. Visit the isboxer.com forum to learn more, we have a lot more information on there.

It's great that they support multiboxing, but you'll definitely have to purchase subs for each account. Like WoW, you can add multiple FFXIV ccounts to your single Square Enix account -- Multiple WoW accounts under one Battle.net account.

That makes more sense. The wording on the FAQ is very confusing.

this sucks if you want a tank/healer combo at the start >>>
"Remember when you were picking your class at the beginning of the game? Your class choice determines which city you start out questing in since there's only one guild office for each class and they're all spread out among the three starting cities. If, for example, I picked Gladiator and my friend went Thaumaturge, we'd be good to go over in Ul'Dah. However, if he chose Conjurer for that healer/tank team up, he'd be stuck off by himself in Gridania. Now this problem isn't a long term one - you could run to their starting city or, once you knock out your story quest around level 15 or so, you can fly to their part of the world using the airship system. However, this still isn't ideal since running involves going through zones with hostile monsters that likely out level you that early on and unlocking the airship means that's 15 levels of questing you were supposed to do with your friend but couldn't."
I will be soloing to start.. so ill just make a tank or healer first.. get them to 15.. by then i should know if i want to box.

Now for the most important question - what server will the EU-based (even if only possibly) multiboxing crowd be starting on?

Notice it says
"■ "Windows only: To play three accounts simultaneously
- Three Square Enix accounts
- Three copies of the Windows version
- Three PCs"
Does this mean they dont want us using 3rd party software?

No clue where you got that info from.
■ Windows only: To play three characters simultaneously
- A Square Enix account
- A copy of the Windows version
- Three registration codes obtained from the product or the "FINAL FANTASY XIV Service Center"
*You can register up to eight registration codes per Square Enix account.
*The "FINAL FANTASY XIV Service Center" website will be available after the game is launched. Please note that the website can only be accessed by those who purchased FINAL FANTASY XIV and registered a service account.
^ That's the direct copy from the link.

You can already open up multiple copies of the game on the same machine. You're reading an entirely different link about playing with friends and family members.

With an open beta weekend one week ago?
Within the first week after release?
With them having issues with server load during the two days of early access?
Free trial is not very likely for the next few months...

I haven't been keeping up... Is today the release?
This game was £5 from Amazon at one point :)
Today is the official re-release of the game. Long time ago with version 1.0 it dropped to as low as $5-10, but now that its open again, i'v seen older copies of the game go up to $35 to 40 now which is crazy.

So do I have to purchase the PC game 3 more times? Or can I just add subscriptions to my account?
I owned the 1.0 collectors edition, which is how I am in the game right now. Just curious. Thanks!

you have to buy the game for each account you want to play. You can add them all to the same "service account" up to 8.. just like WoW..but yea.. have to pay for each one.

what's the verdict on this game from a boxing perspective. Action-Control wise , is it Fun ? so-so ?
I definitely hated 1.0 and wasted $90 on that crap. I heard 2.0 is big improvement. But there are still too many dialogues, cut scenes, and not enough actions is what I heard. And the quest objectives are hella confusing based on some early user feedback. Those wouldn't be a deal breaker for me though. I mostly care about smooth animation and control, responsive action feedback, fluid combat, deep itemization and skill/talent progression.

To answer if it is fun for another person is a very hard thing to do. Based off your own statements, the game would most likely not be to your likings. To me the game is fun, but i don't ask for much nor do i care about much. A game is entertainment to me, easy or hard, indepth or not so indepth.
There are a lot of dialogues and cut scenes, there can be plenty of action if you look int he right places. Most people following the main storyline will get tons of dialogue, this is expected with any Final Fantasy game design. Quest objectives are easily written for the most part, i have literally only found 2 to 4 out of several hundred quests to be really confusing.
However, Animations can seem smooth but clunky from time to time, this in my opinion due to the long GCD which makes actions not responsive becuase your still on a GCD. If you refering to a 1 to 1 comparison of action, then yes is fairly good, except the GCD is a killer. There is no skill or talent progression to speak of in terms of indepth design of classes or old school talent systems. You have set skills/traits you can have, you get bonus attribute points you can assign per class, there are "advanced classes" called jobs that are equipable. There is items slots for "materia" on your gear for enhancements. 1 Character can be all classes, classes have a certain amount of abilities they can share cross class, all the crafting pretty much flows together. There is a lot to this game, but its generally all basic stuff. If your burnt out on wow or rift or similar, then you will burn out on this game pretty quick.
My main class is 42, with most of the main story completed, i should have it fully completed and my magitech armor within the next few days. With all the server lock outs my Multi-box team is stuck at 20 because i cant get them all on at the same time right now.
Also to note: The Chocobo system is F'ing Amazing.... I wish they were more gear customizable but, they nailed a home run on this feature. But what i really mean, is that the Chocobo you can ride once you unlock it at 20 for 2000 GC Seals (which is fairly easy to get). At around 28-30 you get a quest to unlock the chocobo to become a party member when your solo. The chocobo can gain experience to get more points, and you can "spec" it to be a tank, healer, or DPS, all of which is fairly stable at doing when questing solo. There isnt much to the equipment system for them however, which is the only downside next to not being able to breed them. The chocobo also gives you bonus experience becuase it counted as a party member and not a pet. For instance with an arcanist you can have your carbuncle out + your chocobo, when you level new classes this helps tremendously.

WoW! i did not know this.. cool! I am also soloing.. i got tired of all the dialogue quests. But as i tank the dungons (playing solo).. i can see the benefit of boxing some of them. Ill wait til end game.. if there are plenty of boxable high level dungons.. ill level 3 more accounts. Right now its a pain in the ass to log on ONE account.. let alone 2-4 lol. Servers are packed!
I like the class system, being able to be every class on one toon.. and as you level up you gain access to some of the other classes abilities..nice! One thing im not sure if i hate or love.. most world mobs drop next to nothing for loot. Not sure if that is good or bad yet.. its nice not having to unload tons of shit all the time. And it make dungons more rewarding.
