I have been multi-boxing for many years now in various games, multi-boxing has gained in popularity over the recent years, but recently with the rise in numbers of people boxing, and with gaming company's taking action against that rise, isn't it time that we started to monitor ourselves in how we box these games without drawing too much attention to ourselves, I personally think boxing more than five is just asking for trouble and will put an end to multi-boxing in general, I know there will always be those who wish to take it to the next extreme but lets be honest that is doing more harm than good and putting everyone in the spotlight, can we try to set some etiquette and all stick to five for the sake of a continued community.;)

Tbh I don't think it matter as to how many you box it depends more on the other players in the community. all it takes is for people to sytart making waves on how it effects their game play and the company involved will always go against multiboxers. imo.

Same type of discussion happened just over a year ago...

Our problems in rift have a lot more to do with the fact that it is mostly populated by the same free to play jerks that learned their manners playing league of legends than with anything we're doing wrong. I'm on a pve server, I obviously don't go around ganking people, I bow when I see someone in the world so they know I'm not botting, and people are still randomly a jerk to me. I think its a crappy population in Rift that has become vocal because they lost once in a WF where there was a boxer and they want to blame anything but themselves.

First it was the bots, then the F2P players. There's something to be said for shunting off the blame, but it doesn't keep anyone happy.

I only box 5 and it brings attention so no matter how many you box you get the attention. now I understand the more you box the more attention it may bring, but imo it's down more to the community on that server. When I started on Icewatch I didn't get many problems at all but when they closed it and I went to Zaviel I get abuse almost every time I am on and even have players spamming in all chat channels to report me for botting even though we all know multiboxing isn't botting

So after virtual realm is up, could we roll a toon on each different server from a virtual realm, and give it non similar names. That way people can't just look at a list of names in a BG or raid and quickly be able to tell that someone is multiboxing.

You've never needed to do that, people mostly don't pay much attention. In wow I had exactly one person ever notice I was multiboxing in LFR because my names didn't match. When I first started multiboxing in LFG I was worried people would be mad so I joined my toons to different guilds(real guild/bank guild). No one ever noticed, although I did tell someone, who thought it was cool, once after an afternoon of chain running dungeons with my healer/tank combo. Mostly people aren't especially observant, just give different names and perhaps a mix of classes and you'll be discreet.

I went into LFR other day with my 2 new shammys and a semi geared hunter, and funnily enough there were people trying to kick this warlock who was very geared because he was boxing another warlock and a healer at same time, funny thing was, they for some reason did not notice my 2 shammys named similar, my hunter was named nothing in relation to the shammy's.

He did not get kicked cause he said kick me, my lock leaves and he was doing 200+k more then anyone else.

I only take 2-3 in at a time for LFR, most are different names on my toons, I find it easier to do LFR on diff named toons then all similar and stand out and causes drama by the cry babies.
I plan to rename a few more soon, so they do not all look similar.

But on my small realm they all know Im a multiboxer as x4 or x5 camp the AH alot lol, inbetween raids, etc. Some still are convinced my boxers are bots. Can't do much about what people think.

2 box, 10 box, if they have similar names and same class, people are just going to assume your a bot, and doing something wrong.

I just pay to play like everyone else, go about my business in playing my way and I dont care what people think, only time I care, is if I am in LFR as I do not want to risk being kicked. So I try not to use same classes, names to avoid attention.

When I ran 10 in LFR, they tried to kick me all the time, but never could. Helps to have that much control over the votes =P
