Watching the stream at the moment...

Game looks very nice.

EDIT: Let's hope for lock-on targeting for the purpose of multiboxing. ;)

Sure sounds good, but it always sounds better than it is!

Gotta say, they made this look pretty great in the reveal. Not your typical run-of-the-mill MMORPG. I haven't been excited about anything EverQuest for a long time, maybe since I quit playing the game after like 13 expansions (LDoN), and now I actually am looking forward to this game. ;)

I have a pretty good feeling that multiboxing will be acceptable (as it is in EQ1 and EQ2). And I have a feeling that Landmark will use the same engine as the EQNext game, so we'll probably know how well we'll be able to basically multibox EQNext "this winter". I doubt Landmark will have the same macro system as whatever is in EQNext though, and probably not even auto-follow (hopefully EQNext has that).

I'm looking forward to it. However after seeing the reveal, I'm worried it will be more of the same with a few new gimmicks :(

EQ is where I got my start "multiboxing" that is, playing a rogue and a druid at the same time! Had some good times raiding in original EQ with my old guild Legacy of Steel too.

I've been playing EQ1 for the last month... Haven't played WoW regularly since Jan of this year... I got back into WoW for like 30seconds and then the /follow nerf happened, and made me quit all over again.
EQ Next looks pretty sweet. I'm having tons of fun with Nostalgia overload in EQ playing 6 toons. EQ Next looks like a game changer, but then again if they make it too fisherprice like, it might be lame. I still miss the hardcore EQ pre-kunark days. EQ1 has had a lot of improvements over the years, and Sony has seemed to make it more casual. The MERCS are a great idea in my opinion :P

I get the feeling it's a lot of ambition that's going to end up grindy and buggy instead of a refreshing new evolution of gaming. Don't get me wrong, I want to see it succeed, I'd love to fall in love with a new game, but judging from how EQ2 in particular has evolved it sounds like the whole thing is going to end up overwhelming to the point of frustration. I imagine a lot of faction work especially involved with the building of "player controlled" stuff. Tons of opportunities for exploits and griefing and I can't even imagine the whining over the difference between servers.

This looks awesome!!! Hope they have /follow for us boxers. It will be cool if the multi-classing is sorta like RIFT or SWG when it first started

Did it sound like there will be a real money aspect to this game, like a real money auction house? Hope it's not real money, everything in game worth money will be perma-camped by Botters and farmers, that will suck.

I agree with Khatover, if they don't allow transfers to servers there is gonna be alot of crying because of the server progression. It would be sweet if they had transfers like RIFT does.

I see alot of tradeskilling and harvesting materials will be in this game in order to make all the stuff to build towns. I hope the tradeskill aspect will be pretty robust and involved like SWG was in the beginning and hope that bots just can't stand at a station and max out tradeskills overnite.

Killing mobs looks a little too easy, hope they did that just for the show. I don't want another WOW clone where everything is just handed to you.

By the looks of all the flying dirt and effects from spells I foresee a ton of lag for groups and boxers, unless they have a slider to turn the effects down or off.

Gonna be interesting to see how it turns out to say the least :)

The concept/ideas are amazing, and to my knowledge it's re-inventing the mmo genre. They will pioneer, and some other company will bank on it once they copy the features/have the same tech by smoothing things out (EQ vs WoW).

That debut part 1 was boring as shit! No I don't want to watch your fancy finger painting. However the actual game looked cool.

Well WoW copied EQ and did it better looks like EQ has the opportunity to leapfrog WoW. This non static world is going to be interesting, you cant write a guide because every server is different. Mobs wont even be in the same spot for everyone. The character customization will be great for boxers we can make characters that are easy to control. People been talk about a wow killer well if any game is it this is. One thing I have never liked about wow is that its a cartoon, ya I got used to it but after seeing EQnext look like a real world again I really miss that. Well we will see who knows how much better wow will be by the time EQnext has the bugs worked out but so far its looking amazing. They were smart to recreate the eq1 world... hopefully they will toss a bone to their old subers. It dosnt seem you can "camp" anything cuase the camps aren't always in the same spot. Providing a way to allow people to make real money from the game will be a plus for SOE

The game looks pretty cartoony to me, but it's obviously more modern.

Ya the lion does but the female seems more true to life. And the landscapes and the armor seem more lifelike, at least as compared to wow.

The animation style seems very Disney to me.

Anyway, I'm intrigued. If they can pull this off I'll be impressed.

free-to-play just like all the other SOE games. F2P with feature lockdown and micro-transactions are SOE's thing now.

Reading about landmark is kinda like they are getting players to do their artwork for them, like crowdsourcing. You build stuff in this other game landmark which they might allow the better stuff to be sold in eqnext, So now the big edge wow has with tons more money coming in to hire more/better artists suddenly is not such a big edge ..... Lots of smart moves by SOE here. Ya on second look we are back to cartoon characters yet again .... well at least the world looks "real".

I like the EQN-L idea.. I can just see myself bruning another bazillion hours building stuff! It will let us "invest" in the game like never before ( by possibly creating things that'll make it in the live game ). I'm not much of an artist, but i am looking forward to those of you who are.. OMG.. that alone gets me so excited!..to see what players come up with! Just based on what modders have done with other games ( elder scrolls for example ).

I am also very sceptical of any game that tries to innovate too much.. I hope EQN gets it right, but i won't get my hopes up too much. Also, i like the art style a lot! Very excited.

I almost went to this event. paid for the ticket and reserved a room.. than found out I had to move to Denver from VA..so had to cancel 8( ( ill be at next years SOE Live for sure! )

I tend to be less concerned about how realistic the graphics are. As long as the animations are smooth and there are some cool details, I can enjoy a cartoony style. Because we know how things look and move in the real world, animation that falls short tends to look awkward. WoW did a nice job with the animation and the way the game responds to character control, which I think they still do better than a lot of games that came after. As long as the animation is smooth and the characters respond seamlessly to control commands, EQN should be fine.

The various innovations are interesting. Making everything destructible and allowing players to change the world sounds great. Even if it winds up not working as expected, I bet they will learn a lot of useful lessons from it.

I've been thinking for a while that this will be the future of mmo's: provide the basic needs like combat mechanics, but provide tools to the players at the same time which they can use to create and share new content. Imagine blizzard would have released some sort of tool, pretty sure certain groups of players would have created a new continent, a new epic raid or BG. Or in other words, both the devs and the players produce new content.

Looks more like Tera than EQ of old.

That said, I'd love to happen upon Sgt Slate via the Commonlands or an epic GM-run boss battle between CT and Innorruk =D

I miss EQ a lot. Like I do my pals of old. Good times long gone by.
