I've been starting to put together a list of tips/tricks for Rift. Coming from wow so these are things that are different that stood out to me.

• Use these commands to get your action bars and things mirrored properly (does not cover macros, annoyingly. Nothing does):

/exportui <filename> -- exports your UI, Chat, macro settings to a file
/importui <filename> -- imports your UI, Chat settings from a file. This works across characters, shards, factions, and even accounts.
/exportkeybindings <filename> -- exports your keybinds to a file
/importkeybindings <filename> -- imports your keybinds from a files. This works across characters, shards, factions, and even accounts.

• in LFD, there is no way to do FFA loot, but if you change the loot level to "Common" (default is Uncommon), then you only miss out on grays

• Casts generally will not interrupt a gather, so feel free to start gathering a node/quest item while continuing to spam away on the rest of the team

• Legacy accounts may well be faster mounted at first. Don't plan to drive from the faster account when you set up your team.

• Quest items (and items that give quests) from mobs will drop for everyone, quest items that involve gathering from the ground will NOT count for everyone, non-gather quest objectives are about 50/50 (sometimes the first use will count for everyone, but sometimes no) so pay attention.

• /interact works like wow but not quite as well. Sometimes multiple presses will open the interaction on some characters, while closing for others (pay attention!). For best results target the target with a left (not right) mouse click, and then interact. True for both corpses and NPCs.

• /trade is a very handy macro

• To equip quest rewards across toons turn on full repeat and then type "/equip item" . Any other object is "/use item" (consumables, quest giving objects)

• If there is a quest that involves using a quest item on the quest tracker, usually you will get multiple credits if you use the item on the same target from all your toons at once

• Rift low level dungeons have harder bosses than the equivalent in wow. With actual mechanics. Google is your friend.

• If you wipe in a dungeon, soul walk on only one toon at a time and then use your ascended resurrection ability to get up the rest of the team. This gives you five wipes per dungeon without running back

Anyone else have anything?

edit:
• You can vendor your grays, soulbounds, anything you want using the in game store. No need to visit a real vendor, just click the shopping cart button and choose a category!

Just starting multiboxing Rift myself and I did not know some of these tips. Thanks for posting, it looks like most of these will prove to be quite useful. Thanks!

- in case you let Rift/your OS handle CPU load, edit rift.cfg from "MainThreadCPU = 3" to "MainThreadCPU = 0"
- adding "AmbientOcclusion = False" to rift.cfg might improve performance
- grinding mobs might be a faster leveling option pre 50 if your IAs suck as much as mine, aka a lot of AFKers + people questing while IAing

Hey guys incase your wondering if one of your toons missed out on accepting a quest you could always choose to share it probably works on some quest items that are looting from corpses or interacted with.

Hmm the ambient occlusion trick might be just what I needed. I've been playing three boxes on low quality render and two on regular (my tank, box 1, and my mounted leader box 2), but if I can keep the cpu usage under control on the regulars then I could upgrade the other three.

Excellent tip. I find those "get a quest from a board or post or other object in the wild" very annoying, and I have gotten in the habit of first accepting it on my main and then trying to share rather than clicking tediously on it box by box, each time waiting a few seconds for the sparkle to come back. I hate quest item sparkle lag in this game!

- Outfitter skill 1 is enough to get extra cloth drops (even high level cloth). In case anyways wants to craft his own bags, its rather nice to get those extra drops.

Really!?! I didn't know that it worked like northrend cloth scavenging, thanks!

A quick way I've found to sync most of the windows on the desktop is to create 2 macros--one on my main:

/exportui c:\uisaved (or any filename--needs to match the one in the second macro below)

And one for all my slaves:

macrowait 5
/importui c:\uisaved

I put them all in the same space on an action bar in a repeater region, and when I want to sync I hit the button on my main, it saves his UI, and 5 seconds later all the slaves import it.

ALSO... i am at work and cant check the command, but ground-target abilities can be made to target your target in game.. so much win.

It's @gtae, eg:

cast @gtae Burning Ground

note, it casts it at the ground spot where your current target is when you start casting, so a moving target may well be out of the AOE when it actually lands.

More tips:

[Pvp] Turn off auto-flagging or else you tapping a pvp mob will kick you out of cross-faction instant adventures, opening you to attack from your recent group mates and causing mass chaos.

[Isboxer] Make a "pass next click" key on your mouse. Unlike wow, there is no jamba to do your heavy lifting with quest and npc texts. This is the most important thing you can do with your extra mouse buttons! Even if you have only three mouse buttons, make your middle click a "pass next click". You will use this key roughly 100 times a level while questing! Once you have it you'll be surprised you ever lived without it.

[Isboxer] Make a key that toggles both the full repeat and the mouse repeat at the same time, then only use this key when you need to turn on full repeat. It is handy to have turned off your combat key maps, for example, when you are typing in macros. I for example use Alt K for keymap toggle and Alt M for full repeater toggle so my g5 key sends downAlt + K + M + upAlt, it is a very smooth way to move between typing modes smoothly.

Macros: Stop trying to copy paste macros between boxes, rift seems to have some really weird rules about what is or is not in the clipboard (probably there is something there? possibly something you clipped today?) and just turn on full repeat and make your macros that way. Don't be a stupid panda and type out all sets of macros five times. Stupid pandas get carpal tunnel and they probably misspell "Fanaticism" on at least one box.

Also I wanted to give a heads up that the teleport out teleport in dungeon feature appears to be broken this week, I teleported out and it just doesn't offer my team any options if I click on the icon to try and teleport back in, very annoying as I had cleared half the instance. Not sure if this was an intentional change (I presume not since it didn't have them leave the group finder group), but if you like me like to pop back and forth sometimes, be warned that that feature might still be broken.

trololol? Or bad English..
Considering that's the default behavior (check the Rift options pages) I'm thinking the former. I don't usually see ESL types mangling the language like that; they usually just mangle pronouns and such (ebony excepted, of course). :P

Something being hard to read doesn't automatically make someone a troll. Please don't accuse new posters of trolling over terrible grammar. That's not the warmest welcome for them or anyone thinking about joining the community who reads it. This site has many members who have varying grasps of the English language, and as evidenced by the German section that has been here longer than half the other forums, English -perfect or not- isn't a requirement to post here.

If you can't offer help, don't ignore the questions just to of mock the poster. It derails a perfectly valid thread and makes it look like we troll new members.

Hello valued newbie to these forums and to the community! WELCOME! We would love to hold your hand and assist you with your problem, however, we can not understand what you want because of the egregious errors in your grammar, spelling and sentence structure. If you could please re-state your question and follow the conventions that the rest of us use when reading the English language, we would be more prepared to help you out. I already stated this in my previous post, but apparently the subtle context of sarcasm and wit is lost on some people.

But seriously, it seems like you want to use "target of target", as you stated.. I think. It's in the options for RIFT, just check them.

I love this on my mages.. made rifts so much faster!

I should note this also true for dungeon bosses that cast AE, watch their cast bars and move when they cast not once you see it on the ground.

That is an excellent suggestion, I did download a cast bar mod perhaps I should play with it to make it more dramatic. I miss quartz and the easy flagging of interruptible and uninterruptible spells.
