Question: Has anyone come up with a work around for instant adventures changing group arrangements when using FTL?

I am using Lax's FTL setup. The issue is when I join an instant adventure it rearranges the party layout. So the F1 through F4 keys are no longer targeting the right characters.

I was thinking of making "targetexact" macros keybound to F1 through F4. Hoping that will work with FTL. If you have a better solution, I would love to hear it.

I thought of that but would like to stick with FTL. If we can get it right, I think, it will be better in the long run.

I run into this problem in any raid group I join be it in Warfronts or Instant Adventure, etc. When it happens, my assist and follow macros never work anymore (they assist/follow another group leader etc). Normally I just try to re-arrange my group into it's own and mess with the order of my other boxes. Besides manually making my own group in the raid, I don't know a way around this using FTL. I am hesitant to use an assist macro on one character just incase he dies. Because then the rest of my party is SOL.

Does anyone have any isboxer experience for when they join a raid and your team is mixed up? Is there a way we can re-do our configuration? Or is tossing everyone into their own group the only way to go?

Won't the single follow/assist/interact macro using FTL modifiers work in this case?

I took the configuration from here... http://isboxer.com/wiki/RIFT:Basic_Multiboxing_Macros_Walkthrough#Alternat ive_macros_.28simplified.29

I ran into this too. I'm primarily interested in PvE, so not very concerned with not having FTL. I ran for a while using "assist Pantero" (my main tank) in all my attack macros and that has worked well up through 50.
However, I messed about with things a bit last night to make things more flexible:
I left bar #1 the same, but set up an alternate bar #2.
I copied over my DPS macros into new ones with a "cast @focustarget <spell>" format, then
set up a seperate follow macro on my toons that has "tar @focus" then "follow" on the next line
At that point, all I have to do is broadcast "/focus Pantero" and broadcast Shift-2 to get everyone on the correct bar.

Still pretty low tech, but allows me to set a different leader simply by focussing someone new.

It took me a little while to figure out the "tar @focus" thing, and there may be better solutions out there, but it works well for now. If anyone has other ideas, let me know.

Group order should not matter if you set up your FTL and macros correctly using {SLOT1} type syntax.

If you are using Variable Keystrokes (F1 through F4) that is not FTL. FTL involves setting up these macros (http://isboxer.com/wiki/RIFT:Basic_Multiboxing_Macros_Walkthrough#Alternat ive_macros_.28simplified.29) in the game and then selecting the option discussed here (http://isboxer.com/wiki/RIFT:Basic_Multiboxing_Macros_Walkthrough#Alternat ive_macros_.28simplified.29)during the Quick Setup Wizard. If you want to understand what FTL is, read the whole of that wiki page, as it provides a good introduction.

And, no, ISBoxer cannot build the macros for you because the RIFT addon API does not support the key-binding of macros.

Use this setup - http://isboxer.com/wiki/RIFT:Basic_Multiboxing_Macros_Walkthrough

Rift allows you to target players by name (targetexact) so you shouldn't have to rely on group hotkeys for FTL.

Doh. Pretty much what Alge just said.

got my isboxer FTL macro working according to the previous posts. thanks to the guys who posted the info. I just wanted to illustrate their info to make it easier for us noobs to multiboxing: The method allows you to Follow the Leader according to the active screen, instead of a just specific character.

1. Setup isboxer using these options. for this example I use the default F11 key:

946 947

2. setup the F11 keybind in Rift:

948

3. setup the macro for F11

949

targetexact [shift] character1
targetexact [alt] character2
targetexact [ctrl] character3
targetexact [shift] [alt] character4
targetexact [shift] [ctrl] character5
follow
targetlasttarget

4. double check options - interface - combat for cast on target's target:

950

5. Do this for all the characters in your group!

Now you can "follow the leader" in raids, warfronts, etc regardless if your chars are in a group or not and do so in any screen you are currently actively playing.

In-game macros with targetexact is the way to go. Then using Variable Keystrokes to setup the keybiinds to use depending on who's your main at tne moment.

One in-game Follow macro can handle up to 7 characters; If you need more, just create a second Follow macro for the remainder of the charters. If your on Team, it should figure out which in-game macro to trigger. Follow Team1Char1 sends CTRL+F11 to everyone. Follow Team1Char2 would send ALT+F11 to everyoner. Follow Team2Char1, however, sends Ctrl+F12 to everone.

The two Follow macros on the action bars for F11 and F12 are identical, except the character names have changed.

360madden, thanks for providing the information above for all the 'visual learners'.

For future reference, FTL does not stand for 'Follow the Leader' (although it does make sense as a backronym (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backronym)), it stands for 'Focusless, Targetless, Leaderless'. Here (http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/10968-Focusless-targetless-leaderless-%28FTL%29-setup) is an early post on the method.
