Hey folks,

If you were to run a 3 ship setup for optimal L4 running what would they be?

So far I have 2 Tengu's but missions can be a bit slow due to HM dmg. Got 1 character 25 days from a Mach but I'm wondering if we should go down the Marauder route? Or maybe RR Ravens/Typhoons.

Will have a dedicated orca for refitting and a noctis (unless I go marauders then he won't be needed)

With the re-balancing coming with Odyssey the BS Landscape will adjust slightly. What type ships do you have access to use? anything other then Tengu/Caldari at this time?

Unfirtunately mainly Caldari with one nearly a Mach pilot. All have Gallente BS4 and good drone skills. So a Rattler could be an easy mode option.

I'm thinking of passive tanked bricks and just brute forcing L4's, then when I get back into null maybe a mach & Tengu assisted by 5 carrier fighters each to run annoms....

I'm still waiting on EFT to check the maths but I'm pretty sure I'll be bringing my CNRs up to hi-sec for my hi-sec mission team to use and taking a set of Typhoons down to null for anomolies.

Whilst I wait for my hi-sec team to train up, I've been soloing L4s with a Rattlesnake - easy to do but slow and needs constant drone management as the Sentries are constantly being fired on - that experience was enough to put me off using drones much in missioning, so my current plan is to bring my Caldari Navy Ravens up to high and missioin with those, using light drones for any frigates that get too close and shield rep drones for emergencies.

The typhoon looks like an awesome boat for my play style in null anomolies - with the CNRs, I've been warping in at 100km, Cruise Missiling everything, with sentries out for stuff that gets within 80km or so.
Typhoon DPS will be up (they can run 5 sentries, the CNR can only manage 3), the tank will be down but I've rarely seen any CNR below 95% to be honest.

I thought, after the HM nerf, Tengus were really a HAM boat? And doesn't that fit well with missions, as you're usually in close after the gate?

Don't have any HAM skills trained plus they'd just be as slow for BS ships. May try with Ravens & see how that goes.

Drones used to be good for missions before the AI fix. They're still good but require a lot of micro management. So with Ravens in missions it's work from BS>Cruisers>Frigs (drones) to stay alive? I've only really missioned in Tengu and Drakes, but started small and worked up.

Can you link your CNR fit when you get a spare moment

This was my build before the patch - they've made changes to the CNR and I've not looked at it yet...

Against Angels, a L5 char would have 520ehp tank, 715.2 DPS (557.7 from nova cruise missiles / 157.5 from bouncer IIs) with 150km targeting range and 84km drone control range.
I only use cheap T1 ammo as the T2 ammo is just overkill when 5-boxing (and you end up losing ISK on frigate and cruiser kills) but T2 Nova Fury ammo would up the total DPS to 938.2 (780.7 from missiles).
And that's all cap stable - personally, I can't be messing about with unstable cap builds when MBing :)

Cheers Moog, much appreciated. I'll only be in standard ravens to start with, should be able to get a cap stable fit on them

Cruise missile got a decent change with today's patch:

+++ CNR Changes:

CALDARI

RAVEN NAVY ISSUE
The CNR will be Caldari’s attack battleship, like the new tech 1 Raven. I wanted the Navy Raven to get something new, and the new Navy Drake pointed in a pretty good direction. We are giving the CNR an 8th launcher to make up for the loss of the rate of fire bonus, and replacing rate of fire with a bonus to explosion radius. Along with the incoming buff to cruise missiles, this ship is going to be an animal.

Caldari Battleship Skill Bonuses:
+5% bonus to Torpedo and Cruise Missile explosion radius
+10% bonus to Cruise Missile Torpedo Velocity

Slot layout: 8H, 7M(+1), 5L; 0 turrets , 8 launchers(+1)
Fittings: 12000 PWG(+1075), 780 CPU(+45)
Defense (shields / armor / hull): 10500(-750) / 8000(-1961) / 9500(-461)
Capacitor (amount / recharge rate): 5900(+587.5) / 1150s(-4.875s)
Mobility (max velocity / agility / mass / align time): 123(+29) / .12(-.008) / 97300000(-2000000) / 16.19s(-1.43s)
Drones (bandwidth / bay): 75 / 100
Targeting (max targeting range / Scan Resolution / Max Locked targets): 75km / 105(-1.25) / 7
Sensor strength: 28 Gravimetric(+.5)
Signature radius: 410(-50)

Go into mission, MJD to range, blap away with 3 of these.

If there's a gate, on your initial MJD to range, try to MJD at an angle to the gate, so you can MJD on top of the gate from your initial MJD point. Kinda like a giant V if you can visualize that.

Same idea, less dps at range, but probably more effective due to instant dps application rather than counting missile volleys. I'd use it over a nightmare due to optimal bonus, and now it has an identical tracking bonus to NM. Pulses @ 100 with loltastic tracking ftw. ;)

Cheers guys. I'm really tempted to go brick tank Domi's with 2 LAR's. Warp in, launch drones, assist one toon & blap away.

I don't have T2 cruise missiles and as my guys are training towards carriers they are all T2 sentry trained.

I could try RR but I like to have local tanks incase I get jammed (being in Caldari space this happens quite often) and lose all reps.

Will see how things go, may have to try & find a null corp that can cope with me being Afk for extended periods and is deep inside blue space so I can rat & mine with reasonable safety because I suck at PvP lol
