They really need to put a sale on the expansions... Bit of a road block

So I'm really enjoying myself some good ole ever crack, but what I had once thought was an optional expansion is actually quite needed if you want to be worth your salt at higher levels.
The optional expansion while including mercenaries and the beast lord class also enables the ability to reforge your armor. This is actually extremely powerful in here because of what you can convert stats into. In wow it helped you gain maybe 10% more effectiveness. Here it seems like 30% if not more.
If you are 6 boxing like me that's 2xpac per account x6 or $480 to be able to hit level 95 and this isn't even including subscriptions.
All I can say is holy shit they need a sale like wow had. $10 for the optional xpac and $20 for the latest. I means it's been out for 6 months! And the optional has been out for what looks like 2 years!

Its a business but that's quite a barrier. Hoping a sale comes up soon...

I broke down and bought the AoD expac. It still hurts. I am not holding my breath for expac sales. I am watching for other sales during the anniversary celebration. :)

EQ2 has a special circumstance. The Age of discovery expac brought beastlords and mercenaries so they didn't include it in the current expac rollup. /sadpanda

I would imagine the next one would make chains of eternity free but.. age of discovery would still cost something at that point.

I feel you Ellay, when i first started playing EQ2 again last week, ( i started this forum post http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/index.php?threads/holy-carp-expansions-expensive.5202/#post-50853 ) i almost did not play due to the high cost of the last few expansions. But i caved in and got them. If you do not use mercs.. you do not need AoD..you can do all of CoE without AoD expansion. But when i do a game, i dont like limitations.. so i go gold right away and buy the expansions lol. But im not a Daddy like you, ( where money matters more ) im just a 47 year old gamer geek.. with a good job and this is my hobby 8)

P.S. I even got one CE version so i could have the bad ass werewolf Paladin!

Now that they lifted the restrictions on the amount of gold you can carry, once you get higher level you can farm drops and sell the loot rights and just buy Krono for subs. You can usually buy them for 800plat but if you start buying in bulk they might go up. Some of those fable/mystic drops sell for thousands of plat. You could save some cash this way.

This right here exactly the problem is the server I'm on crush one has like half the pop as Freeport. Checked out just the trade chat there and it was non stop selling loots. I just hit 85 but thinking about re rolling

Btw, our guild on Guk has a tier 3 guild hall with lots of amenities. Neither of us are GL but we can invite. I was exploring the GH a few nights ago and while I didn't get lost, I did get a little wore out with all that walking. :)

Good thing I re-ran the numbers this evening. Crushbone is actually not in as bad of shape as I thought. Matched up with Freeport nicely. Still thinking about Guk of course but have read it's a low pop too. Hopefully these relaxed restrictions will help us.
