View Full Version : [WoW] The /follow workarounds - BAD IDEA

So I went ahead with the ethereal pet (250k gold) and the mammoth mount (16k gold), set the whole system, using interact with target spam in place of a follow button to do this. It's pretty wonky, doesn't work nearly well as /follow, and there are issues with the ethereal guy not being available when your main dies. Overall it felt hackish. I got lifegripped away by griefing priests, had no way to follow another toon and group back up, and there's no way to automate the process of setting up a new pet to IWT with, has to be done manually.

Anyway - to the bad news. Within a few hours of doing this in battlegrounds I was slapped with a 72 hour suspension (they skipped the 3 hour one) for exploitation of game mechanics (different message than the 5.1 honor system ban, and the mistaken use of hack tools they hit me with long ago).

Called Blizzard, put in a ticket. No reversal of the ban, and the GM offered no sympathy at all, touching on that same old multiboxing is a sensitive issue, exploitation of game mechanics is not allowed, and that they were not reversing the suspension.

According to their documentation this goes 72 hours, then a week, then a permanent ban.

So much for that.

It's better just to do the 40 man Bg's and do your best to defend some place. You are handicapped badly but you won't be able to be reported if you are actually attacking stuff. Blizzard cannot ban us for being bad. After all they are the reason they have made us bad in bg's with this change. I will keep doing av for xp and pvp points until my accounts expire. If they change follow I may come back. Or I may stay depending on how much of an impact this is.

Looks like the side effect of multiboxers not being able to play in battlegrounds was not really a side effect but they intended to break multiboxing.

I wouldn't expect to be able to multibox when the next expansion hits.

Multiboxing WoW is over.

Well to some extent, they can. Started in 5.1 with the automated system. Yes they tuned it, but low contribution, lots of reports, time spent out of combat, etc. slaps you with those automatic 3-72 hour suspensions. If you go into a BG and click around and try to do it that way, I wouldn't be surprised if those suspensions started up again really quick.

I didn't want to do that so I tried the workaround. Sadly all I got was a irreversible suspension. They aren't messing around :(

if they are really going after bots there they could still be doing we going to get banned (standing about not doing a lot) the gm i talked to said i would say out of bg's if i was you. As there is a lot off automated systems at this point of time.

And as lax said in the other post they wonted us out as well to work out whats going on with the bots try to work out who is doing what. some of the bot owners have madebots look like boxers using CTM/ITW /follow /assit other toys we use a lot off. and to be fair they did well.

Dang i'm sorry guys, i was first to mention the soul-trader. I guess they really want us out of the bgs for sure.
I got hit with a temp ban as well... I give up, no more workarounds. I would be content with just PvE but I don't feel comfortable that they won't expand on this. I just started boxing 3 days before patch so maybe I can still get a refund... Peace out.
