View Full Version : Los (15) FPS on one toon - log into another and getting 50+

I've noticed really poor performance with a new team I made but I suffered through it. The odd thing was whenever I would log out of one toon and log into another (without reloading the team through Innerspace, just for checking mail or something) it was very fluid. Now, I've finally sat down and looked and it's crazy - my new team is getting 15 FPS while other teams are getting 50+.
What could account for this difference? It's like the background FPS is being set for all windows, instead of only the background Windows. Possible ISBoxer config problem? All I did was copy the team from an existing team...

Sorry, the title should say "Low FPS", not "Los FPS".
I did some testing and it does not look to be ISBoxer related. If I loadup an old team, those toons get about 60 FPS. If I log out of one of those toons and log into my new toon, then I get about 15 FPS. Something is happening in WoW that is limiting my FPS and I'm not sure what it is... It's only happening on this new team and not any other characters.

When I've had this problem crop up I manually set all of the windows to absolute low from within the game, make sure that none of the multisampling has randomly been turned up above 1x. I then use my isboxer macros that turn up only the things I plan to to restore more reasonable fps.
I'm afraid that's the only thing that has ever fixed my fps problems when they went really wonky.

I copied my WTF file from another toon that doesn't have FPS problems and logged in - still at 15 FPS. I checked the video settings between a toon that has issues and one that doesn't (the WTF I copied from) and they were identical - the only difference was one was getting 60 FPS and the other 15.
The is really confusing, but somewhat encouraging. I thought my computer was on its last legs and I kept getting confused why things looked so fluid when switching to another toon to transfer gold or mail items. Now I know that my new team has a hardcap FPS set somewhere, I just need to find what is causing it.
Also, like you said I set my toons to the lowest possible settings and they were still getting low FPS. It's not the video card or computer that can't handle it, it's some setting somewhere that is forcing it to be low.
ETA: I've tried the "/console maxfps 60" command and that didn't do anything. In the WTF file it was set to 0 which means there is no maxfps, so I know it's not that setting that is the problem. I also tested the background FPS to see if it was somehow thinking it was in the background, but that didn't solve anything either.
Anyone know how to wipe all settings and start fresh for a new toon? I thought copying over a working WTF would do the trick, but it didn't.

FOUND THE PROBLEM :)
Jamba Item-Use was killing my machine. This is related to the Jamba Item bug I had before, I'm guessing... I'll let Jafula know.
If your new team is having trouble with the Jamba item bar, and you're getting really low FPS, try disabling Jamba Item-Use to see if it fixes the problem.
Wow, I leveled a team from 1-89 with 15 FPS... I forgot how fluid the game can look.
ETA: the bug was really taxing my CPU. I was at around 75% on all cores with the bug, and now I'm sitting at 35%. No wonder I was getting 15 FPS.

Wow thanks. I didn't know that a single addon could even do that.

Thanks for the find. I'm an addon addict. It's nice to find which ones might be troublemakers.

Blast was too late to chime in! I had an adding killing my Fps when I came back too. Was one of the proc alerts. Glad you found it.
