Try going under Advanced - Core:Communications and updating the Channel Name and Channel Password on every toon. Push the settings and log everyone out and back in.

Nope. Spams to the new channel.
Created channel and password 2.0, and the chat window is not subscribed to the channel, yet on it goes, every 5 seconds.
ElvUI folks say it's not on their end, but it's only when ElvUI and Jamba are loaded that Jamba spams.
So, does Jamba normally spam that information into the nether every 5 seconds for any channel that is subscribed to it?
If so, it makes sense that ElvUI is disregarding the don't subscribe to that channel part, but why such selective disregard?
Edit; Hmmm, another clue is that the spam is disregarding the custom color I chose for it, matching the General channel color.

Can you copy and paste (here) the information that is being spammed? (So I can identify where it is coming from.) With that I might be able to help you?
FYI:
The channel under /jamba -> Advanced -> Core: Communications has one and only one purpose. That purpose is to track which toons of your team are online. Each toon joins the channel you have configured upon logging in. Jamba polls that channel every 5 seconds looking at the list of characters subscribed to that channel. If a toon is in that list, then Jamba assumes the toon is online, likewise if the toon is not in the list, Jamba assumes the toon is offline.
However all this is unnecessary if you check the box that says "Assume All Team Members Always Online", as the channel checking is skipped. With this option, if a character isn't online, you get spammed "No player named '<toon name>' is currently playing. Regardless of whether this option is on or off, Jamba still tries to connect to the channel.

For me personally the point is now moot as I've uninstalled ElvUI. It's a good UI, until you get as many addons as I use. Jamba is now back to performing as expected.
The message was something akin to [JambaTeamIsOnline] teammember1, teammember2..., teammemberN, just as you described. Something about ElvUI's chat interface is intercepting it.
If you need me to test, I still have the current WTF for that installation. Just let me know.

Okay, thanks for the heads up that you have uninstalled it. If I get a chance I'll install it and see if I work out what is going on.

I use elvui and jamba together with no issues, a comparison of some settings might help. I have the all the default settings under the dps setup for elvui. I've moved a few frames around but I doubt that would change anything related to chat. In jamba I have the entire team listed and assume team online UNchecked, I've changed the default channel name and password and of course pushed all settings. Every team I have uses the same settings aas I often run with other guildies for boosting and whatnot and this keeps it simple. I can probably post a quick breakdown of every setting and how I currently have it configured if it would help.

Betty, have you ever installed the Chat Tweak 2nd party addon for ElvUI? If not, then that becomes the number one suspect. I had that installed, but it had some bugs with the alt names feature so I deselected it. It might have gotten its mitts somewhere it shouldn't have.

I have never installed the chat tweak add-on, well not until today to test it. Now when I login I get spam from gathermate and jamba. I really think something it modifies in elvui is the cause now. I switched back to the other installation of wow and the spam stops. Neat add-on but somewhere it disagrees with other add-ons that use a chat channel to communicate. Perhaps if we're lucky someone with more lua knowledge than I have can figure out the root cause. Good find, now here's to hoping for an easy fix.
There is a debug function of the version I downloaded from curse, disabling it may be the trick. I'll give it a shot, I think jamba has a debug mode as well so I'll try that too.

Hi, any news here? I have the same problem, getting spamed with TeamIsOnline messages. Using ElvUI 6.15, Jamba 5.3.1. The spam stops when I disable the chat module of ElvUI, but I would prefere to be able to use ist.

Sorry for dragging this one back up, but I just recently had trouble with elvui and jamba causing all elvui chat windows to be spammed with the names of the characters in the jamba comms channel every 5 seconds or so. As far as I can tell this is a problem with elvui. However this may be useful for other elvui users.
To fix this issue (not the team always online problem) open the elvui config window by typing "/ec"
Once there, click the install tab at the very top near the middle.
The installation prompts will begin for elvui, click skip until you reach the chat setup (should be second or third)
On the chat screen click the setup
Click skip on the remaining prompts
Click finish at the very end and your UI will reload with the default chat settings for elvui.
Make your chat tweaks and enjoy less spam.
This problem can be recreated by enabling debugging in jamba and then selecting the channel for display in elvui. After it has been selected any logout or disconnect will cause the channel to display every time it is loaded.
Hope this helps one person

alternatively if you go to the channel settings (right click then settings) of the one being spammed, go to other under categories and untick channel in there it stops the spam.

Ya normally that would do it, however, my client crashed while making changes in elvui, and left the box unchecked with the chat visible. Checking and unchecking did nothing, reloadui would randomly correct it, but a client restart would revert back to the craziness. Reinitiating the setup to correct the chat was the only thing that would work for me with 100% success.
I do appreciate you putting the info out there though, I'm sure someone will be helped by it.

Your fix worked for me, BettySue. Thanks for another one!

The problem is still not really solved. As soon as you create an own chat-window the spam starts in there. My quick and dirty fix is to edit the JambaCommunications.lua, search for the function AJM:StartChannelPollTimer() and change 5 to 500 or whatever time is ok for you. But you have to do it after each update.
