Team Scenario Optimizer

Hi all. I've been a long time lurker and finally found a way to make my first contribution to the community. I've recently finished leveling a few teams to 90 and begun the gearing process. I have found that Scenarios are fun, relatively easy and efficient means of acquiring gear and JP/VP.

However, after reading threads like this (http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/48572-Scenarios-FTW) I started wondering about the most efficient means of running all characters through Scenarios. My solution is based on string combinatorics (closely related to permutations) and is rather straightforward. You enter a list of characters in the right window and output an optimized list in the left. You can export to .csv as well.

You can grab the executable and/or the source code from my Google Code repository here (http://code.google.com/p/wow-team-scenario-optimizer/). The code is alpha and has been functionality tested. There might be a few bugs since I only performed cursory testing.

If there is enough interest from the community, I would love to extend this utility to include JP/VP calculations so that we know how many rotations of the optimized team list we need to run in order to get from x point to the relevant point cap.

Awesome stuff. Have you found if you are capable of doing heroics this still nets a positive? I've only done one scenario to gain the ilvl 450 weapon and realistically it only took 15-20 min per run while heroics wildly range in time spent from currently 25 min up to 90-120 if I'm having trouble on a boss or learning it.

I'm not sure if its better in the end or not.. but I got more epics from scenarios than I did from 5 mans. MOST of them are very easy.. there are a few that just take longer because each member in a normal run would be doing separate things to get it done faster. As a boxer you cant do that so it takes longer.

Click "Make List" and you will get an optimized combination of characters. If you want to save to a file, click "Export List".

In short, yes. When my first team had the necesasry iLvl for heroics my skill with that team was not high enough to compensate for the barely-there item level. So I looked to Scenarios and found it was an easy to way to make progress without smashing my head into a wall.
