View Full Version : [Rated BGs] How do you find an RBG team?

Since I get my weapons next week I feel I'm ready for RBGs. The problem is I'm on a PvE server (Dalaran) and I lack history (knight champion in vanilla and duelist on warrior in BC isn't very impressive). I've been on the lookout for solo healers to join me in random BGs and it has worked out well, but I would like to try rated for the challenge and increased conquest. Any suggestions on where to start looking?

You could try the oQueue addon.
www.solidice.com/oqueue
It was designed to network players who want to pvp.
Blizzard doesn't necessarily want people to use it for non-rated BGs, but you can queue with a raid for rated bgs.
You can join any BGs that you qualify for; the leader chooses what the requirements are for their bg.
If you're looking for rated ones, then only go for those.
You can alternatively start a group/raid, set whatever minimum resilience you want etc.
When you start with the addon, press the Find Mesh frequently until it doesn't let you push it any longer.
That is submitting your Real ID to the 'Mesh' of others who PvP with oQueue.

DUDE YOU'RE ON DALARAN?????? I was on that server too. Alliance but it became super dead so i transfered to KJ. You horde or ally? Anyways, getting off point, Yeah addon, or go to other realms and ask around. I think you can do cross realm rbg's?

Ya, I'm on Dalaran (Alliance). Have been for a long time, though I did jump on Mag (Horde) for a bit. Most of my toons were on Dalaran so I switched back and continued leveling my guild. If they had free server transfers for all my toons I'd take it, but with BattleTag IDs and the ability to group over servers I don't think there is a need.
Are you alliance?

Yeah im in LoB. I boxed on that sever for like a month and everyone was like "Woah, never seen that before." but conflicts with the guild i was in and no world pvp really rook a toll so i transferred. Hows the server nowadays? I dont know how succesful a boxer would be in RBG's. Never seen or heard of one doing RBG's. Id assume you would still run 5's tho?

He doesn't post much, but after stalking Nox it looks like him and Voot are 2400 RBGs. If everything is legit then they are proving RBGs are possible. I believe they're running DKs and enhancement teams (EU).
Id love to world PvP, but I rolled on this server because my RL friends wanted PvE. They quit long ago and it would be too costly to transfer everyone. I mostly just BG anyway, and with upgraded weapons I may farm heroics when bored. However, I've found that honor is decent for gold (buying those daggers for 105 honor that sell for 16g) and since I can't use it anyway I've been making some money to support enchants.
I just ran into Aelli this morning in AV. Hopefully do some RBGs together once he is geared. If anyone from LOB wants to give it a shot then let me know! Could be a fun experiment.

Doh, they're win trading? That's disappointing. Man, Blizz really needs to get control of this shit.

Back in Vanilla I bought gold so I could buy enough cloth to have my gnome gain Darnassus rep and be able to ride a tiger. It actually ruined the game for me because I knew I didn't accomplish it. Maybe it's the way I'm built, but win trading to gain gear/titles just ruins the fun for both those doing it and those suffering from the unearned gear advantage. Oh well, I'll keep trying to do it the legit way :)

Very noble - I personally view accomplishments in a video game differently. Noxx and Voot probably feel the same, sure we all know they cheated but they probably dont care.

It's not about being noble or not, there is nothing immoral about win trading in WoW. I just found that it ruined the experience for me. I'm guessing, for me, win trading would take away the challenge and therefore the fun. Obviously it doesn't bug others.

I agree with you and feel pretty much the same in general. There is one thing that I hate about wow and that is time, specifically blizzard time vs my time. Maybe this is for another thread or different discussion, but it would be kinda of a cool discussion.

So breaking the rules you agreed with when creating a char is not immoral? With that logic I see nothing immoral with banging another chick when you are married. There are probably degrees to immorality (as in how much does it harm another person), but breaking rules is in my book immoral by default. Not that I'm free of breaking rules myself btw ...
And win trading is not only breaking the written rules, it's also against the spirit of the competition. And for me the spirit of the competition is far more important than the actual rule.

Probably just semantics, but I didn't want to come off as saying they're immoral peeps (or that I am more noble). I disagree with their choice, it's against the rules and spirit of competition, if it prevalent enough it would cause me to quit the game, and I wish Blizz would address the issue, but I don't think they're bad peeps because of it. I lose respect and can't really be impressed by any of their accomplishments in WoW, but they likely don't give a crap if I give a crap.
Hell, many would say illegally downloading music is immoral. I guess I just don't put the minor choices in the morality bucket.
To put it in a more simple way, if I didn't think it would actually ruin my fun in the game, I would probably do it. I just think that if I was to go down that path then it would likely ruin the sense of (video game) accomplishment for me, which is the reason I find games fun.

I used to feel the same way about pve. My wife and I were in a raiding guild during Vanilla/bc and half of wrath and spent 3-4 nights a week each 4 hours each of those night wiping and killing bosses. All we got for our efforts were gear resets where everyone starts over every new exp. Some people call them accomplishments I call them a waste of time. Blizzards screwed up version of time=rewards is the main issue I have with wow, keep them playing keeps them subscribed. I wish I could get back that time I spent pveing.
For myself I find pvp much much more enjoyable after I am fully geared(minus the new upgrading sys). Dont have to stress about arena/rbg ratings once you are geared because the truth is they can be stressful and frustrating. I found that my arena ratings were actually be better if I didnt have high expectations or lofty goals. If l lose, which I do alot its so much easier to handle when you are fully geared.
I just get to play the game, sure there is a reset of gear each season but its easy to get if you have decided that your time is more valuable than blizzard think it is. I have more fun when I am not wasting my time.

Very good point, and I would totally agree if the WoW addiction hooks weren't currently deeply implanted. It has become very apparent that Blizzard's model is to have the carrot always hanging in front of the horse. The thing that keeps me playing is the hope that I will be better. As soon as I realize that either everything is too easy or the original plan will not work, the hooks are removed and my subs are cancelled.
By Blizzard making PvP weapons difficult to get, they have essentially guaranteed my subscription for a month. If they gave me the weapons to start and it was either too easy or too hard to PvP then I would have already cancelled. Instead of making a balanced game (likely impossible given the number of variables they have) it is a better business plan for them to have perpetual change which results in perpetual hope.
By win trading and effectively feeding the carrot to the horse you remove the element of hope and replace it with "reality" of how good you/your team is. Perhaps that's why I'm not interested in win trading. Although the time will be decreased, I enjoy the theory crafting and hope that comes with not knowing if something is going to work. If it does work then I think the sense of accomplishment will hold my interest longer - that's opposed to getting it quickly and dominating, which to me wouldn't feel that fun because anyone could do it.

Here is the link to my RBG toon and I would gladly help you out if you are Horde.

I use oQueue to get my Paladin or Destro lock into RBGs but I have never tried to do an RBG with a boxer. I think a few of them would be semi-boxer friendly (WSG/TP/BoG/Mines/Temple might be harder).

I'm Alliance on Dalaran, but I've put my shaman team to rest for now. They were lots of fun and I may take them up again in the future, but I'm working on a new team for 5.2. Don't get me wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong with enhancement shamans and I think they're one of the top multiboxing teams out there, I just got a little bored of dealing with random PUGs. Even if I dominate the whole BG I still lose 1/3 of the time because the rest of the team is terribad.
I'm on oQueue also. We should start up a semi-private list of Battletags for multiboxers who want to be connected.

My alliance monks are mid 50s... hope to grind them up for next season... but I am currently running 5 x mistweavers... too much AOE/free heals. But sorry to hear about putting the shammies to bed. I never finished leveling mine this expansion so they sit at 86... uggh
