I have a problem that one of my boxes keeps freezing in instances. Tank box, nearly always on trash. The frame rate isn't dipping first or anything. The cpu is spread evenly across all characters (per the default settings) and the only other difference between the tank box and the slaves is the graphics settings. Running on 16 gigs of memory, nowhere near maxed out, and using gtx 570 which doesn't seem to be taxed until the moment that one box crashes. that box cannot be closed except through the processes tab of task manager.

My tank settings are hardly maxed out either:

/console groundEffectDensity 15
/console groundEffectDist 1
/console horizonfarclip 2112
/console farclip 1250
/console skycloudlod 1
/console smallcull 1
/console skycloudlod 1
/console projectedTextures 1
/console waterDetail 2
/console rippleDetail 2
/console reflectionMode 3
/console particleDensity 80
/console weatherDensity 1
/p High Graphics

versus

/console groundEffectDensity 16
/console groundEffectDist 1
/console horizonfarclip 2000
/console farclip 1000
/console skycloudlod 1
/console projectedTextures 0
/console waterDetail 0
/console rippleDetail 1
/console reflectionMode 0
/console particleDensity 80
/console weatherDensity 0
/p Low Graphics

Basically I have a new machine that shouldn't have any problems... and it doesn't' except for these crashes.

Help!

Edit: one other thing, my running load for the cpu is abot 35% normally, with each box taking 5-8%... when the tank box freezes it shows as 24-25% on the task manager.

I don't think it is the issue necessarily, but what does GPU-Z show as the utilization on the graphics card?
Resource Monitor doesn't show temperatures or anything about the video card.

try disabling the Jamba - Item Use , just started gettin freezing issues myself, only when i start attacking things my computer gets these weird spikes and freezes up on and off/client crashes, tried turning on and off all the different addons under jamba and came to found it was being caused by the - Item Use bar some reason. see if that works if your runnin jamba

With half my team in stormwind and two in shrine (on my medium to high pop server) the gpu load is 32% and the fan speed is 45% and the temp is 66 celsius. I'll keep gpuz running and note if I see any spikes if it crashes again.

Thanks for the ideas guys! Nothing as disappointing as thinking you have it figured out and then NOPE.

Ok that box just went down again with the gpu operating at 35% (I have noticed that it goes up to 50% while questing). Jamba item-use disabled. Physical memory at 60%, Cpu usage 60%, with that box frozen at 25% cpu.

I had issues with crashes on my machine using a Radeon HD 7970 card. It was caused by DX11, when I set ISBoxer to use DX9 I had no more crashes

How do you tell if its currently running in dx11 versus dx9? my isboxer has world of warcraft default profile selected rather than dx9 or 11.

I also discovered that the fifth box was running texture filtering at 4x while the others are all bilinear so I'm going to bump that down and see if it does the trick.

Default is normally DX 11, you can see what you are running when in game by going to system and advanced section.

i had read posts about people getting these random freezes.. never happened to me until last week. I had one account that would freeze, at random. I had not knowingly changed any settings, so I was clueless. I did everything recommended, but ignored DX11/9 stuff because i KNEW i had it set to DX11. Well i would have saved a lot of time.. that one account had been switched to DX9 somehow... put it back to DX11 and no more issues 8)

Bah it crashed again so it wasn't the 4x texture thing. I'm hesitant to change all of my boxes from dx11 when whatever is going wrong is only crashing one box. I discovered that this character had the shadows on something other than fair so now I've turned her shadows all the way down.

edit: they are all running dx11

For me when I had lockups, all was DX11. My machine was locking up every 30 minutes or so, when I moved to DX9 I stopped having any crashes. My machine was a fill hard lock, only way to get machine to respond was a hard reset.

A good practice for any gamer is to make sure you have updated graphics card drivers for one, also make sure to download and install C++ runtime redistributable from microsoft and .Net 4.0 If you are still having the issues after that I would personally try setting them all to directX9 or even installing an earlier driver for your graphics card.

At one point I had a random window freezing.

I had a specific motherboard, cpu and video card configuration.
A different boxer, with those same three component types had the same issue.
People with two of those, did not have the issue.

It was the last ATI card I've had, as the Nvidia ones have been fine.
Not saying Nvidia is superior, just that they work... and that was the reason for the switch.

It was whatever motherboard I was using.
And a Q6600 processor.
With whatever ATI card was the top, when Nvidia had GTX 275/285s as their top cards.
I switched to the 275 and the issue went away.

Not sure if this is helping or not.
But if you have spare components, you can rule out a video card or whatever... even if the tester card is not something you'd want to play with long term.
