View Full Version : How to handle click to heal and party unit when changing to a raid

I wasn't sure where to post this, so apologies if it's not right place.

I recently started taking my 5man team into AV and have run into an issue. That is, how to handle my team in a raid situation. I have a great "click to heal" clickbar setup (I followed this great "Click Healing using Like a Pro (http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2911&start=0)" setup -- Awesome!!) that utlizes a transparent overlay and mouseover macros etc.

It works great as an overlay to the party unit, but the problem is when we change to a 40 man raid. I'm using Pitbull as the unit frames addon, to keep them sorted and synced accross all my sessions. It has the ability to keep the party frame visible even when in a raid group, but since you can never keep your party intact after you enter a raid (correct?) it's useless. The party is no longer synced throughout your team.

I tried using the clickbar overlay over the Jamba team list but it often gets out of sync and has failed me way too many times. Plus, it just doesn't have all the visual cues and information that Pitbull has.

I'm sure others out there use a similar clickbar system and have a solution for changing into raids. So, please, help a brother out. :)

Thanks in advance!

Grid and clique is what i use to use and still do on certain teams. you will want to get grid custom layouts with it to so you can create teams and then you can set it up to show only your team in raids or you can set it to show the entire raid.

The actual raid frames are not to bad with Clique now. You can move and customize them pretty easily and they stay alphabatized.

I don't need the clique part, I have a nice setup using ISBoxer click bars and a "like a Pro" keymaps.

I guess what I really want is PitBull unit frame to always show my team, whether they're in the same group or not. Looking at Grid and GridCustomLayouts it looks like it will allow me to keep my team in a unit frame, but does it have all the info that Pitbull does?

Following Alge's thread (http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2911&start=0) I have a green, yellow and red transparent bar, which give me a ton of options. That means I need a wide (because I went with vertical buttons, as apposed to Alge's horizontal buttons) party unit frame. The WoW raid unit frame is good for just one button overlay.

I use Grid Custom Layouts, and then a Repeater Region.
Rather than clicking a specific portion of a clickbar (a green, red or yellow part), I use mouse clicks with modifiers.

My druids have: Left, Alt+Left, Ctrl+Left, Right, Alt+Right, Ctrl+Right, Scroll Up and Scroll Down.
I've not bothered with Shift clicks, but that's an option too.

Grid has numerous options, generally with extra addons.

My grid config is: http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/45580-DK-Team-FINALLY-at-85-and-cruising-through-AV-weekend-%29?p=347870#post347870

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It looks like the only option is to use Grid and GridCustomLayouts for raids. Can you have both Grid and Pitbull loaded, or are there conflicts? I'd like to keep Pitbull for party unit but use Grid for the raid unit.

There's no trick to keeping your party grouped when you enter AV, right?

I have SUF (which is a unit frame addon, like Pitbull).
I also have Grid.

The two operate exclusive of each other.
You can have either, neither or both without impacting the other in any way.

When you do a battleground, you cannot be sure which toon will be in which group.
That is something beyond our control.

Also, the raid leader (first person to join the battleground) is the only one who can move characters from one group to another.
And they can only move characters who are from their own server.
So it is very unlikely you'll have your toons in the same group, even if everyone else in the battleground want to let you.

A leader based assist is going to fail in battlegrounds.
A target based, focus based or FTL based is going to be fine anywhere.

Thanks again Ualaa, your post on how to set up GridCustomlayouts was a lifesaver!

I've got both Pitbull and Grid running simultaneously. Pitbull is on when in party mode and Grid comes when in Raid mode. They switch out between party and raid modes underneath my transparent overylay click bars.
