Hi guys.
I need some help deciding on a class combo.
Some information first. I dual boxed back in Cata with a priest/warlock pretty much purely doing quests so I have experience with dual-boxing.
Me and a friend have decided to get back into wow (again!). We really enjoy 2 manning our way through instances as pretty much the only way to level. Last time we returned we played a druid/priest and the time before we played a warrior/paladin combo. Both combos worked really well up until around level 68ish. After that it became really hard to 2 man dungeons for us.
This time I've decided to get passed that barrier I will dual box 2 characters, while he'll play 1.
He's probably going to play either a warrior or pally tank, so I'll need to figure out a duo combo that can heal.
So my question is,
What is the best duo in this case? preferably at least 1 class that can tank and heal

If you're driving the tank, literally any tank will work.
Quite a few prefer either a Paladin or Druid tank, due to ease in macroing their abilities.
For a healer, a Priest is really nice for PvE content.
Holy and Discipline are both decent, so its a preference between the two.
If your team doesn't have a Shaman on it, a Resto Shaman is a great choice because they're both a strong healer (AoE and Single Target) plus they bring Bloodlust/Heroism to the team.
Tremor Totem can break Fear/Charm/Sleep effects, even if you're Feared.
Stacking the Healer spec Monk is really strong, while leveling.
Not sure how they're at, at maximum level, but along the way 5x Monks is basically unkillable.
I don't know how two would be, but there's nothing saying you cannot play 2, 3, or 4.
If your friend was wiling to play 3x DPS, all the same class... and you had both the Tank and Heals...
That would be a full group, capable of a lot.
Lots of options.
I'd drive with the tank.
And use one of Grid + Grid Custom Layouts + Clique (all three addons) or Healbot or Vuhdo (both of these are stand-alone).
Each option is as good as the others, it is visual preference.
You want an alphabetical fixed order sort.
So the top frame refers to the same character on every screen, as does the second frame, etc.
The frames are positioned in the same place, on every screen... usually via Mouse Broadcasting to ensure they're in the same spot.
You place a Repeater Region over the whole area, with the Healer as your target.
When your mouse enters the region, broadcasting is enabled.
If you have the option to block local click (KVM Mode), use that... so your tank doesn't change targets when you want to heal.
Clique/Healbot/Vuhdo translates various clicks into specific heals.
I've used these before:
Resto Druid
- Left = Rejuvenation
- Right = Cleanse type spell
- Alt Left = Nourish
- Ctrl Left = Lifebloom
- Alt Right = Healing Touch
- Ctrl Right = Regrowth
- Scroll Up = Swiftmend
- Scroll Down = Wild Growth
My mnemonic was... Left/Right is default, Alt-Clicks are efficient, Ctrl-Clicks are emergency use, Scroll Wheel is AoE heals.
After a few sessions with the healer, whatever system you use will be natural.
I also like a couple that assist the main toon.

You can then have the Healer, heal whoever the tank is targeting.
And if that is a hostile, then the heal goes to whatever the mob is attacking (hopefully your tank).

Thanks for the respone Ualaa
After reading through the forum and your reply it's got me wanting to play more than just 2 toons!
I'd love to box 4 but I don't think i'll be able to afford it so will stick with 3.
That means that my friend (who won't be multiboxing) will drive the tank and I'll drive 1xHealer and 2xDPS.
My friend will be running a pally tank so we'll get those buffs.
For the dps I'm wondering what is better for maximum dps output, 2 of the same class or 2 different classes. And dependent on that answer which class/es do you suggest?
Currently I'm tossing up between 2 elemental shamans, or a combination of elemental shaman, warlock and/or mage
Finally with your explanation of using grid+clique (or healbot etc) it seems like I'll be able to run with any healer. I'm pretty comfortable healing with a priest as that's the class I've played the most so will most likely stick with that.
1 final question, I have my main account set up with all heirloom sets, do you suggest I use the gear and if so, should I use it for the healer or 1 of the dps?

Hi,
I've leveled several character pairs on x3, and I'd say that pally tank + druid healer is by far the easiest combo.
Since other players tend to take damage, it might be difficult to macro the healer to heal them because /assist macros suffer from latency - for this reason pally is great because of WoG/selfless healer which instantly heal for full hp in 1 click (up to 80 at least, I didn't dualbox beyond that).
Druids are extremely easy to use because all you need is to put a pack of hots on yourself and you're good to go. Plus there's the treeform CD if you decide to pull the whole room. In WotLK instances healing is so overpowered that I can easily pull like half the instance and never dip in hp with just 3x lifebloom + rejuv.
I also like a couple that assist the main toon.

That doesn't work for me, because it takes a second or two for your other window to recognize you changed targets on your primary character, which is absolutely no-go when you need to urgently heal someone up.
