So, I've asked people this question before, but I figured I would ask the rest of you fellow gamers.

What DPI setting is your mouse set to? (more questions below as well)

I don't know what it is with these new mice sporting up to 8200 DPI, because that really isn't a selling point for me at all; but is that a selling point to any of you?

I don't have my mouse software installed at the moment, but I believe I'm somewhere around like... 1600 DPI and I'm completely happy because I can cover the entire horizontal distance of my 1080p monitor in about 2 inches of mouse travel.

And that's why I don't understand the need to increase the DPI through the roof like it is because 8200 DPI is about 5 times what I'm currently using; and I think I'd end up breaking the mouse in a fit of rage if I found that I couldn't click on buttons in game because my cursor moved too damn fast.

Who is this high DPI marketed at? It can't be FPS players because, how the hell are you going to shoot (or snipe) anyone if your crosshairs are all over the place with such a high DPI setting?

I prefer 800-900 DPI with enhance precision turned off.

I hate getting a new mouse because its a week of messing with settings until I get things perfect.

I generally go with 2000, just because that was the maximum on my last mouse (Logitech G5 Gamer), which worked fine.
The current mouse will go higher (Logitech G600), but 2000 is what I'm used to.

I run at 2500 without acceleration. I do a lot of mouseover stuff with my setup so the less I have to physically move the mouse the better - I don't really move my wrist to use the mouse, I just kind of pivot it between my fingers. But any higher than that and I lose track of the cursor location and things get less accurate.

Mine's currently set to 800.
