Your Keybinds!

I rarely if ever see people post the actual keys to which they bind certain spells; sometimes I catch a few in screenshots but I'm curious what your strategies are as far as location of keys for which types of spells.

I know people are picky with keybinds, have different keyboards, styles, hand sizes, etc and expect to see some weird stuff in here, but here's mine. It's been similar since vanilla, except adding a Naga mouse in wrath.

My strategy is to have all normal combat spells and keybinds on the left side of the keyboard for fast access. Any key that requires me to move my left hand more than an inch if at all (can't be reached with a finger) is no good. Things which need near instant access are on mouse keys. I'm never finished and always move stuff around but here's what I have:a

Shaman (Elemental):

` Purge
1-6 DPS
F1-F4 cooldowns, except F1 being heal self, always
T totem projection (garbage, probably getting rid of it)
U heal main (don't like this, too far)
F fire totem
G earthquake
H healing rain
V capacitor totem

Mouse:
1 IWT (used to face targets or run around someone with SWG)
2 Wind Sheer
3 healing tide totem I think?
4 Tremor
5 Trinket
6 Windwalk

7-9 can't hit reliably so they aren't used. might put astral recall or far sight or something on em :)

10 Stormlash
11 Fire Elemental
12 Bloodlust

DK's (Frost)

F1-F5 cooldowns (F5 being army of the dead, it's a little harder to reach but I don't use it much)
` Death Grip
1-6 DPS
F necrotic
G death n decay
H unholy blight / blood boi;
T Gorefiend's Grasp + 4x remorseless winter

Mouse:
1 Strangulate / Asphyxiate round robin (shift is a modifier for which one to use, since it's talent on only 2 of them)
2 Mind freeze (2 at a time, round robin)
3 Summon ghoul, death pact
4 Will of the forsaken
5 Trinket
6 Lichborne, heal self

11 Path of Frost
12 Horn of Winter

no alt/shift/ctrl modifer keys at all ? that's impressive. I will post my stuff in a bit. I've been thinking moving my "WASD" movement keys to the middle of the keyboard. so I can get more keys on the left and up.

I've tried modifiers before but never quite got used to it with certain combinations. Depending on which modifier, and where the main key is, I may have to either use my thumb or my little finger to hit both. The only modifier I use at the moment is Shift+Num 1 (which is bound as "End") to switch between strangulate and asphyxiate.

Trying now, seems like some modifier combos would work better with my hands than others. Any modifier + `, 1, or 2 is awkward as hell. Shift + T Y F G H V seems fine, although with Alt + any of those, my middle finger no longer reaches 1-5 so I stop dps spam temporarily.

I kept Q/E bound because Ive always used them for strafing and will probably never get used to not having those anymore. A and D are bound even though I don't use them, but they're in an awkward place to use as a key bind I think.

I choose to start with F and over on all 3 rows because F has a tab on it that you can feel you can't really miss it.

I can't tell you what I've got everything bound to, but I can tell you what I use on a regular basis (and what I'm learning to use):

Normal Use:
1 - 5
Shift 1 - 5
Q, E, R, F, Z, X, C
Shift + Q, E (Strafe got moved to A & D)
Middle Mouse (also paired up with Shift, Alt, Ctrl, Alt & Shift)
Mousewheel Up/Down (also paired up with Shift, Alt)

I'd like to start using Alt more and I just swapped CapsLock and Ctrl to see if it would force me to get used to using that unused modifier... we'll see; and for some reason I always end up slacking on my mouse buttons (G700), but I keep telling myself I'm going to use them one of these days.

I dont use the keyboard except to type.

Number 2 on naga is Alt and 3 is Shift. I put a little piece of velcro on those so they are raised, its easier to feel.

Middle 3 on n52 are movement keys Strafe L-Fwd-Strafe Right. Little thumb button is follow.

Rest are standard dps keys, however, I use the KISS(Keep it stupid simple) system. For instance on my war /charge is in alot of my dps abilities. I dont spam my buttons(castsequence), I like more control.

I aslo no longer need arena 1,2,3 buttons since I can see before the match begins who the healer is and can set /focus 1,2,3 in my macros ahead of the match. Saves on things like druid that displacer beast when you lose target.

I really dont use many keybinds at all.

I basically have the two bottom action bars bound to:

750 the top keys are basically S+whatever the bottom key is except for the Q & E which replace 1-4. I have two more bottom bars that are bound to my G700 mouse buttons and are class specific. Mostly talents and similar abilities like pvp trinket.

Then on my side action bars I use function keys F1-F12.

I love how you guys all have "1" bound to bubble-hearth. How's that work on shammies and DKs? Also interesting that so many folks have _both_ Q and T bound to their /quit macro.

I use "G" for my primary DPS key but noticed most of you have yours bound to things like /teabag and /moon. Do you guys not use the home row?

I use Gkeys for stuff I have to be able to hit in combat (dps, aoe dps, bighealonthetank, interrupt), naga for other cooldowns and 1-10 for stuff I only need occasionally. I'm getting a new computer next week and plan to revamp everything again though for that.

I use ~ through [Backspace].
With spam stuff generally on 1-4 and specials on 5-Backspace.
More important specials are on 7, 0 and Backspace as they're easy to get to quickly.

I use Shift + HomeRow keys (ASDFGHJKL;)
And Shift + F1-F10.

Shift is my main modifier.
IS Boxer generally uses Alt/Ctrl in its' macros since I don't use those for my binds often.

I do have the release when dead on Alt 7, but that's the odd-ball bind.

I use the 12 thumb buttons on my G600 mouse.
Basically region swaps, follow and spread out.

On my G15, I use all 18 G-Keys on my Pally/DK setup.
But only 3 or 4 are used across all teams.
M1 is Key broadcasting (light on, when broadcasting is on), M2 is mouse broadcasting and M3 is Keymaps enabled.
The Alt + MR key reports everyone in the entire battleground (excepting those from my server) as AFK; a couple years ago, I was regularly reported AFK despite not being AFK, and used that as a retaliatory method to get the unidentified culprits.

I think that's about it.
