View Full Version : What shortcuts do you use?

People not knowing about the 'regroup' feature for fleets made me wonder if I'm missing out on anything useful shortcut wise in the game or using isboxer in the game. Everything that I can think of that I use:

1. 'regroup' under fleet (fleet orbits boss/FC at 2500m) is as close to a "follow" (a la WoW) that you're going to get in EVE
2. videofx in isboxer to display alts overview/targets/ship status/fittings on the main toon's screen (I don't use switching where I can see my alts screens in small size)
3. aligned drone fittings (mouse broadcast lets you open up all the drones from all the ships at once). Having lots of drone groups can be a problem, as can having the drone bay expanded on one guy and not another when you try to deploy.
4. isboxer in general (for clicking undock, hitting F1, hitting F to have all drones attack, hitting shift-r for all drones return). Keyclone would work for most of this too (or any other key broadcaster).

I'm having trouble setting up a good PVP videofx feed on my main (5 guys, room for 4 the way I have it set). The only real option I see for this is making overview targets' box smaller so that I can fit maybe 3 on the right of the screen and 2 on the left.

I've had no end of trouble with losing focus on certain windows and trying to click things like warp/orbit on all 5 at once (or trying to hotkey either of them) so much that I usually click each by hand when travelling. I also have trouble clicking the same gate on all 5 reliably even with the exact same window/size setup in busy systems (I attribute this to other ships loading on/off the overview and a touch of lag across the 5 accounts). I end up manually warping/gating each guy for the reliability of knowing I'm getting everyone to the right place.

Things I'd like to do/have:

1. A hotkey for launching drone groups
2. A hotkey for assisting drone groups to a particular person in your fleet
3. The boss to have the ability to not just warp his fleet to 0, but to jump them automatically too
4. an "I Win" pvp setup for my 5 guys (versus 1-5 guys, not versus an entire armada or anything). 2 logistics, 2 battleships, and a recon tackler are the best I can think of, but then who's gonna start a fight with that group without having overwhelming firepower to take it down. Maybe 2 recons (arazu and pilgrim), stealth bomber, bait BC, and an Oneiros?
5. More isk....more isk is always good.

Do you do things differently? Have a good hotkey for multiboxing that I never noticed? Have a good trick for boxing EVE in general? Have a good multiboxing isk creation method? Post and let the community see your mightiness!

I am Mr Manual for most of this stuff as well... will be watching this thread, hopefully some one has tricks to share.

One thing I do that helps with traveling with my 5 is I have a repeater region in open space I use to right click and send commands. Ie... Stargate- system name - jump. Or station - station name - dock. Since systems and stations are alphabetical all chats select the same one. It is easier than trying to use overview.

That's a good point SD. Why couldn't you just use mouse broadcasting and right click your way to jumping through the right gate or docking at the right station too? Why repeater regions?

I use a repeater region so i don't have to constently turn repeater on and off. I have in the past forgotten to turn it off and sent my alts doing random stuff ie opening windows warping off or jumping. I found by having a dedicated area I know is broadcasting to all I'm less likely to send wrong commands since I know it is sending them in that area.

Id love a quicker way to gang everyone up, are you guys doing that manually?

I invite all my alts from my main, then click over to the second ones' screen and turn mouse broadcasting on to hit the "yes" accept on all the alts at once. Not as fast as the WOW/jamba setup, but nothing in EVE is.

The keybind to "Reconnect to lost drones" is, I believe, not set to any key by default. Useful if you get d/c'd or if you warp back to drone you just remembered you forgot.
