View Full Version : [WoW] Recommended path for dailies & rep grind?

reactivated recently, team is 87, near 88. Just curious if there is a recommended path for dailies & rep grind now or at 90. For instance, definitely do these 2 x factions because you will get access to these blue and epic gears.
I notice a few factions really just have the mount rewards. Any recommendations or tips would be helpful ;)
thanks,
acid

if ya do alot of crafting trades then you'll want tillers for the easy motes of harmony. I'm pretty sure otherwise each trade has a different faction to get the patterns from.

Recipes are all at revered instead of exalted, so that cuts down a bit of grind. Most of the exalted stuff is mounts and stuff, so no need to go that far unless you're a completest or you prefer dailies for Valor over dungeons. Klaxxi sells weapons at Exalted, but I found they weren't worth it by the time I had the rep.

Shado-pan and August Celestials can't be accessed until Revered with Golden Lotus.

Order of the Cloud Serpent was the "fastest" faction to complete, with Anglers not too far behind as far as what you can complete just doing the normal dailies. You can speed OotCS up by farming eggs, from what I understand. Sidenote - pick one color each of the cloud serpents and learn them one at a time, then vendor the extras of whatever duplicate color. They sold for something like 700g each...thank you accountwide mounts.

Golden Lotus is a whore of a grind IMO. There's a ton of quests which always include an obnoxious gathering part, and the faction seems to come in at a trickle for the amount of time you're spending out there. But, as I said, you need them for August Celestials and Shado-pan, which you need for high-end wrist and weapon enchants.

So that being the case, I'd pick an "easy" rep {Tillers/OotCS/Anglers} to pair with Golden Lotus and just swap out as you finish off the easy ones.

The august celestials are random location quests right? Do the dailies always start in SoSS? You get one from that NPC and he send you to the daily location for that day? Or are there other areas for those?

tailoring patterns are at honored for golden lotus. That grind is a bitch, tillers in contrast is pretty easy. Golden lotus quests suck because they take so many times to do them to get anywhere, and you need them to get to the others, so that area is always crowded. A group really helps, but of course boxers already bring one, although it lacks the benefits of multiple people spreading out and grabbing the mobs needed for kill quests in the area.

Klaxxi dailies are not that bad, as the mobs you go after are plentiful, the collection quests suck tho, but it does take a while to get to the point where you unlock them. Last two Paragons are unlocked once you hit Revered with them, at that point they send you out to find them. Blacksmithing gear is from them at Honored, Rep weapons purchasable with gold is all at Exalted and on par with Heroics, so I'd get weapons from AH or Heroics. VP gear is all at Revered and some at Honored, necklaces only I think which aren't bad. They also offer buffs with each Paragon you unlock/rescue. I'd suggest the Bladeturning one on your tank, it comes in real handy with stunning the mobs and does a lot of damage when it unleashes.

Nat Pagle is out there with The Anglers, and sells a couple items. One of which is a BoA book which adds +50 skill points to fishing and can be used at any level. Price of a single one is 800g when first meeting him, not sure if this goes down once you become best friend/exalted with him. Worst part of this, the only way to gain rep with him is fishing up 3, possibly 4 items if you're lucky, that give you a quest to return it to him. These are his dailies, but the drop rate is very low and have only been reported fished up in certain areas, or more often in them than others, but some take nearly 100+ casts to get.

They did change the skillup system on fishing tho, not sure when exactly, but my Pally is getting a point every 5 fish or so in the 450-500 range now as apposed to one point every 30 fish two years ago. Yea, I stopped working on that profession a long time ago cause of that. There's a guide on WoWhead showing what items to fish for for him and where they usually are, coord posted by people.

If you want the Lesser Charms to get the Golden ones for extra loot roll chances in LFR, then you'll have to run dailies, at least your best bet to get them. You turn in 90 Lessers for 3 Golden ones, but have a cap of 10 Gold you can have in your Currency tab like 4000 JP/VPs. Lessers go in your bags if you haven't gotten any yet, I think stack to 200 now, but I've been told they are putting these in the Currency tab in 5.1 cause they are cluttering people's bags. OotCS has several dailies that are random like the rest, but the profession based ones so far have all been the same for me. Those only reward 100 rep and gold, the main dailies offer over 450 each, VPs and Lesser Charms, choice is yours to do all or not.

I would highly suggest working on your Tiller Rep. I'm personally going to be farming for Motes of Harmony for my professions, but I have seen some people advertise in Trade that they are willing to rent out lots for whatever that person wants or needs for the right price. If you farm for your own use and plant cooking ingredients, talk to the fish guy by the pond in the market each day to find out the 'daily crop'. You'll gain more from planting them than any random crop. He charges to tell you, so you only need one toon to ask as it applies to the whole realm. Or simply ask in General if anyone knows for free. His price does reduce as your rep goes up with him, gets free when rep is high enough.

If you come across the Dark Soil for Tiller friends, read the tool tips and give them to one of the two on the item, you'll gain a lot more rep with them than someone that it does not mention. Once you hit Best Friend with someone (exalted) you can't turn them into that person anymore, so use them on someone else till you no longer need them. They are BoP, so watch which toon digs them up.

Just a quick correction - All of the items you dig up from the Dark Soil around Pandaria tell you exactly who you should give it to in the tooltip in order to receive extra "friendship". I would personally not spend my time trying too hard to find these things because none of these NPCs do anything special for you once you become "best friends" -- All they do is give aesthetic changes to the look/feel of your farm.

EDIT: It was apparently too early in the morning for me to reading threads...

One thing to note.. i have been gearing up faster in dungons than waiting for rep gear, I'm still doing rep.. i want the trade recipes that you need rev with. But you can get raid ready ( item lvl 460 ) just doing dungons. So I only work two reps a day. Also, golden lotus has a short cut if you like to grind. The quest that starts the golden lotus dailies ( or opens them up ) will have you follow a panda npc stealthed to close a cave, by blowing it up, so these troops stop coming. IF you do not do the quest you can farm those troops for hours.. they come in sets non stop until you finish the quest. They are elite and have a higher chance to drop the cache keys than non elite mobs. The keys are used to open cashes that will always give a rep gaining item and random trade mats..The rep items are either blue ( 140 GL rep, or epic 450 rep i think )
