Having problems with the /follow in wow. I target a mob, /assist it with the followers, kill it and /follow has detoggled. Every single time without a fail after combat I have to toggle follow back on. I don't move the followers at all whilst in combat.

The followers used to stay in follow during/after combat the majority of the time although they did sometimes detoggle of their own accord. Now its every time, every follower. What am i doing wrong? I must be missing something really blatant.

My main computers movement keys are WASD, on the client those keys are bound to /follow "nameofmaincharacter" macros to solve this problem. Not a perfect solution but it does the trick.

Make sure you toggle auto combat on assist under game options. Melee combat (not wands) will remove follow.

Casting spells will not. Ranged attacks with a bow... should not but I have not tested.

Also, as previously posted. Rebind your movement keys :) WSAD is movement for all Zins as an example but normal keys are bound to whatever computer has focus (arrow keys) enabling flexibility as to who has focus has movement - makes swapping characters around when one dies effortless.

Ok, my followers are casters, shadow priests. And believe it or not Mind Flay breaks follow. Dots nor mind blasts do.

*Sigh*

yeh... as was said good solution is to bind /follow macro on wasd buttons on additional wow clients

Channeled abilities break follow iirc, not 100% sure

tested myself - every ability which turn character (i.e. mindflay or arcane missles) breaks /follow. Channeled spells like Blizzard logically shouldnt break /follow - will test as soon as I get the spell.

I actually have auto combat turned on - while I need to re tap the follow key when they do melee attack, I see it as a small price to pay to get a little bit of leveling for their melee skill

I'm playing a Warrior and Paladin, so they need to be facing the mob at all times. Because of this, every single one of my Paladin's macros has a "/follow (main character)" at the end of it.

I have a Heroic Strike/Execute spam key on the Warrior and it's just a blank /follow on the Paladin so she doesn't waste mana casting anything, but it keeps her on target and facing whatever the Warrior is attacking.

It works really well.

Some spells break follow and give the 'your too busy to do that' response, though they don't move the character like the warlock drains, mindflay and arcane missles when you try and /follow during them. I believe old school slam is one of these. I wouldn't be surprised if all the channeled spells at times did this because of the tick timing they seem to have. Such as interrupting hellfire seems to not be as responsive as you want at times, but it has a fast tick speed.

hey, it pains me to ask this question here because i hate being the guy that always asks the dumb questions but i searched the wowwiki and couldn't find an answer.

i really can't figure out how to trigger a macro with anything but the action bar keys (ie. 1-10 etc). i want to make my slaves follow when i hit 'w' with my main.

thanks again..

thanks again..1) Make macro for "/follow <mainchar>"
2) Go into Interface Options-->Advanced and show all the other hotbars
3) Go into Keybinds and bind your "W" key to a hotbar button
4) Drag macro for /follow onto that key
5) ???
6) Profit!

This is exactly what I do on my guys. "E" is a button on actionbar3 I think. I drop macro on there and leave "E" bound to "Move Forward" on my main. I don't bind the other movement keys to it because sometimes I want to move around while leaving them where they are (LOS pulls, for example). I use both mouse buttons for the alternate/default "move forward" and my middle mouse is the "toggle run" bind, so I only use E when I'm moving around and want the others to autofollow.

There are also auto follow UI mods that auto follow your focus character when you leave combat.
