View Full Version : Any 80-90 boost guide? No questing.
I'm used to boosting and not questing. Any suggestions, dungeon run or grinding path from level 80 to 90?
Sample:
Level 90 Pally aggro all monsters. Lower level Mage, Hunter, Warlock and Druid do AOE

I haven't played much Pandaria yet, but I presume it is the same as before.
Questing and Dungeon grinding are the only remarkable methods for leveling. Grinding world mobs is a painfully slow way to gain xp, and it will take you forever to level that way. Just look at Sam Deathwalker's progress if you need an example.

It's worth doing the first quests (on the boat) for the free weapon. After that I just queued for randoms. The only thing I did differently on my second group was I stopped doing instances at 89 and stated the prerequisite quests for Klaxxi/Golden Lotus dailies. Since you have to do them anyway and they give some decent i430 rewards, might as well do them while you still need experience.
Boosting at near max level is just queuing for randoms, really. If you have a well geared level 90 tank, you can smash normals fairly easily. It's not really worth the effort, though, since normal instances are so easy at equal level. Better off making a 5th character and getting that extra toon to 90.

Questing gives an unbelievably large amount of gold this expansion. 8k to 9k on each toon after just 5 levels.
I am not sure how grinding compares to that, but running dungeons earns you very little gold. Doesn't seem to be much trash in the early dungeons.

I suppose you could do a combination of PvP (random battleground and/or bonus honor battleground) and running Dungeons.
And once you were 90th, do the quest progression for even more gold...

I'm in the same situation. I'm RaF boosting teams to 80 and I've started playing my first team ( pally, 4x shaman) in Cata when I get boosting burnout. I've read in some of the other threads that Cata instances are harder to box than MoP so I'm wondering if I'm better off just questing 85 and then doing a combination of questing/instances to 90.
My intention was to start learning how to play my teams in Cata instances so I tried BRC when my team met the iLvL and that didn't go well. Throne of Tides looks to be a nightmare for me. So is worth taking the time to complete Cata instances or just get to 85 and start the instance learning curve in MoP?

Cata instances sucked, they were too hard even for single players (too hard meaning the general population and pugs wiped on everything). The trash hits hard and the mechanics are important to the point where they cause wipes. That'd be a slow and painful way to level.

Not worth your time. MoP instances and heroics are considerably easier and smoother than Cata ones were. Some of the cata instances are the most annoying thing since Shadow Labs in BC and UBRS in vanilla.
80-85 xp req was nerfed and cata quests are generally not that painful, you can do a level in 2-3 hours, 4-5 if you're a slower quester. This'll also get you 2-3k gold per toon for your flying and such. Then 85-90 questing is 5-10k per toon and 430+ gear the minute you hit 90. Your other viable options at this point are stormstout brewery monkey farming (a 15-20 hour grind, hundreds of resets), or PVP which outside of IOC/AV week is slow and painful also, unless you do premades.
