Hello all,

Recently I got very interested in multiboxing because I have 2 toons of almost every class, so I decided to dual box and save time lvling, gearing, maxing professions etc.

There is tons of info on this website which makes me even more lost. I saw so many videos and it seems that the set up always is like 1 main then other characters are folowers. I wanna play only 2 accounts but I dont want 1 of them to follow the other one. I want the second toon to mimic all actions of first character including motion, flying, fishing, cooking, etc. For example when I move forward both move forward and they stand on the top of each other. Is this possible?

I dont know how to start and which software or hardware to buy. I looked at ISboxer and it looks like the secondary characters follow the main but I dont want that.

I have 2 computers. One of them is XPS8500 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3450 CPU @ 3.10GHz RAM 8GB 64 bit operating system, which I intend to use for running both game copies. The other destop is ok but I dont have its specifics right now.

I would really appreciate any help with this matter.

No, that's not possible. The slightest variation in facing, movement speed, latency, etc., will prevent the toons from lining up. While I do fish with 5 toons at once, it isn't exactly simple to set up. Cooking is easier as you can just stand still and use mouse passing, but it still requires setup. But for anything movement related, you need follow.

Multiboxing isn't a means of exactly mirroring everything between different accounts. While you can do a lot of things at the same time and get close, there's a lot of things that impact how it works.

How can u multibox 2 melee? IF 1 melee follow the other melee till they reach enemy then get in combat then enemy moves away how the follower would stay on target?

I saw in a bg a guy playing 2 feral druids and they were superimposed on each other. I had to look very close to see that they were actually 2 toons. How he done it?

You use interact with target and click to move. This allows the second melee to move up into melee range to attack a hostile target. However, that doesn't mean they are mirrored - one of the biggest complaints about using IWT and melee groups is "runaway slaves", where the slave doesn't stop moving and either orbits around the target or just keeps running right through the target. Slaves can line up perfectly like that, but it is mostly just a fluke and they will no longer be lined up the second movement is involved.

The two accounts won't mirror each other exactly.
But they will to a degree.

One toon follows the other.
You can interchange which leads and which follows.
You can also move the follower independently, via hotkeys to almost stack.
They won't move that far, stacked.

You can have both melee Interact With Target, while Click to Move is engaged.
You could have two ranged classes, each fire the same spell (by putting them on the same hotkey).
Or you could play different classes.

The basics are:
a) Slave follows the main; and
b) Slave assists the main.

There are infinite variations.

My only advice is to start simple but just do it, funnest way to learn something is to just do it.

Ok I wanna start but I don't know the difference between hardware set up and software setup. Do I need both? I wanna dual box melees, I have 2 paladins, 2 rogues, 2 warriors and 2 DKs. What's the best way to dual box melees?

I can do macros. Money is not an issue. Thank you.

Most people software box.

Keyclone (www.solidice.com/keyclone) is $20 for a lifetime license.
You need one license per computer.
It has all of the basic features, but does not have a lot of the advanced features of other products.

Hot Key Net (www.hotkeynet.com) is free, which is always a good price.
This is script based, so you essentially need to write your own code (or modify the example script given).
HKN has most of the features of IS Boxer, if you're comfortable with the script nature of HKN.

IS Boxer (www.isboxer.com) is a subscription based option ($15/quarter; $50/year).
There are wizards to get you started, a detailed forum & wiki, and an IRC on its site.
Nothing really compares to IS Boxer, but HKN is the closest.

I would recommend one of these three options.
Numerous users on this site use all three, and the authors of each are quite helpful.

There are other options to consider, but none of the subscription based are as strong as IS Boxer... and HKN seems easier (or more documented) than AHK for the free options.
