Hi all, I've been having issues with crippling lag whenever I am in (or near) Vale of Eternal Blossoms with my 5 man team.

I had a look at IB system settings, I changed the main window to max 30fps and background windows to 10fps (I have dual screen setup.) I also checked the CPU cores, I have 6 cores available with the slots 1-5 using cores 1-5 (6 is not allocated.) This didn't fix the issue though.

Basic system details:
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition

VTX3D Radeon HD7850 2GB X-Edition

Couple of 500g hard drives (both almost full)

Old ASUS motherboard (bought it a couple of years ago, sorry details not to hand)

8gb DDR2 RAM (4 sticks)

Any thoughts on what I can do to fight this lag? I am at work right now but can post detailed system info if needed.

Try disabling most/all addons, just to eliminate that as a cause.

Warcraft is more CPU instensive than anything else.
You easily have enough ram for 5 accounts (1GB OS + 1GB per client).

Shadows, sun shafts, water detail, view distance... they're all hard on the system.
With console commands, you can lower these below what the game allows.

One easy fix for latency is to have the slaves look at the ground... that's a view distance fix.
You can set view angles, and run a macro to change views as characters swap.

Thanks Ualaa, I'll try out your suggestions and some of the others in the thread you linked. My lag seems to be caused specifically whenever I am around a lot of other players, I was lagging a little when Org was busy in Cata but it was manageable and I didn't bother trying to fix it.

I am a little perplexed why Blizzard included both major cities, a raid instance and significant daily hub all in the one zone but hey, who knows why blizzard does anything these days.

An SSD might help you out then.
After ram (if you don't have enough), that's the cheapest upgrade to most systems.

You don't need anything fancy, for a gaming drive.
Quite a few people like the Intel 520's or the Crucial M4's.
I've personally used OCZ Vertex 3's, but the controller has given some people issues.

I remember when i switched from i5 2500 to i7 2600, made huge difference- also make sure you have everything on low and disabled, something like this:

I feel like such a noob, by reducing the graphic settings on the slaves down to 'low' and leaving them at 'good' on the main, my lag problems disappeared (they were all set to good.) Thanks for the help!
