Ads? :whistling: There are methods for whitelisting javascript/java/activex in all current browsers. The firefox + adblock + noscript is a free option and one that's been working very well for me for the past couple of years.

So far I just see the add banner in one place... not really a big deal.

My feathers on get ruffled when there is a banner at the top, right, left, bottom, and in between EVERY post. Thats when I start wanting to hunt the admins down.

i don't think the donation route would pay for much at all.
afaik, it hasn't so far... and the donation button has been out there since december.
(i believe the Christmas money was blown on the new servers... taxes... and maybe a present or two)

don't get me wrong... if some of you 'famously' wealthy types would like to support the site, a $1-2k donation would probably cover the year and ads may go away (talk to ellay about that.. but it's my guess)

meanwhile, i have no problem accepting a couple of ads, especially if they are relevant. (i'd suggest a vertical banner that rotates between ips)

the amount of time and effort as well as the monetary costs need to be offset somehow... otherwise the site will suffer.
(you guys have noticed an improvement in site performance and better layouts, right? time and money...)

I don't know if it's the ad, but the forums page has been really really extraordinarily slow to load. I'd say 50% of the time it's slow to load with only the ad and the top banner showing. Are you scanning my hard drive for dirty secrets?

I've never seen a donation button on this site, can someone point me in the right direction. I'm a firm believer in supporting a community that has helped so many, without Dual-boxing.com I wouldn't have 5x lvl 70 Shamans in almost full PvP gear. Make it so people who donate dont see ad's imo, and those who cant afford to donate can look at an ad every once in awhile.

Ask yourself this guys & gals, where would you be if dual-boxing.com never came to be? Probably outside enjoying the sun like normal people, what fun would that be? :P

I have a question about ads though, which was prompted by the suggestion to just put up ads and adblock them. Does the site generate revenue if I block the ad? I know ads tend to work such that you get a certain amount per "view" and another (greater) amount per "click". My point is, if adblock'ing these ads will invalidate the revenue, those of us who would like to support the site may want to consider turning off that feature here.
