Comp: DKx4 Resto shaman

If you can mind control the big undead (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=58822#comments)it really improves Damage output.

Instructor Chillheart: kill the first trash pack and engage the boss. She will kill the other students in the room.
P1 Don't touch the ice wall since it will one shot. Otherwise it's a simple tank and spank/don't stand in anything.
P2 Just dps, nothing to see here

Jandice Barov
Position the group behind her, and either move the tank, or just eat it, when she casts Wondrous Rapidity. When she starts spinning, kill the images until respawns. And don't stand in the Gravity Flux.

Rattlegore: Before you pull the boss, make sure the whole party has a bone shield. He won't aggro if you touch the two bone piles closest to the door, just wait for them to respawn. During the fight if you see one of your characters has lost the bone shield, you should swap to them and refresh it. When rattlegores rusting hits 8+ I start to kite until it falls off.

Lillian Voss
P1: She will occasionally jump to a ranged and do a small AOE around them. The big thing this phase is here Death's Grasp which pulls everyone to her and then places Dark Blaze on them which causes them to leave fire where ever they walk. For this i use a spread out macro as well as AMS. With the Risen Guards I can DPS her fast enough to avoid this move.
P2: A new boss appears and randomly selects a character. Swap to that character and kite the boss. She can target the tank and then you can just dps her.
P3, a mix of both P1 and P2. I ignore the wandering soul and just dps her doing my best no to stand in fire.

Darkmaster: Very simple tank and spank. He will occasionally teleport one of your guys into a side room. You can swap to him if you like, but I don't see a need for this.

Now if only they would drop a two hander...

My slaves disconnect during the Dark Blaze phase of Lillian Voss, disabling ALL addons did not help. It are only the slaves, even cannot get them to move or something. So annoying since it's not a hard fight or something.
Ticketed it, but wait time is terrible (6 days...)

Some additional comments on the OP's strats:

Chillheart: Spread out for both phases. Do not stack.

Barov: As long as you don't stand near a wall, gravity flux will kick you out of it, so don't worry too much about it. Again, spread out for this one.

Rattlegore: Group near the center of the room because the fire hurts a LOT. Pick up bone shield when you can, but the more critical thing is to stay far away from the blue flame. I heroism on this boss and pop all cooldowns. Also, Rusting is based on hitting the tank, so use as much avoidance as you can throughout the fight. You can stack near the center of the room if you like.

Voss: When you get dark blaze, I just put everyone on follow and run in a wide circle until it wears off. At one point, you will get dark blaze AND someone will be fixated. When you stop running, choose the one that is fixated and run away. This will give you plenty of time for the next fixate. if she fixates the tank, just eat it. There's no reason to run.

Gandling: Again, I hero and pop cooldowns here. The damage is pretty low. The only thing is that your tank needs to AOE for the zombies that come out. You'll need some awareness here to get your toon back to the right room, but it's not really that hard.

Was just in here. Doing the Rattlegore fight turned me off. Picking up bone shields off the ground? No thanks. I hate ground collects in quests let alone a fight involving ground collects.

It's easy since you can start the fight with all chars having the buff, then just switch to whichever char that had it removed and pick a new thingy.

I just get the buff on my healer and one dps before the fight and have the tank pick it up while fighting. I blow all cooldowns and just burn him down before he can kill all my of my party. I find putting PWS on the targeted player or healing them after the bone spike is easier than running around and clicking on the ground objects.

First 3 bosses were east for my team.. But voss destroyed me! Ill have to find a way to move my guys better i guess. Dark blaze was what did me in.

I just hit 90 on my DK team and got Scholo, I got up to Voss as well and got him down to 20% in the 3rd phase twice before wiping. I think it's a gear thing. I also dislike the extra coordination melee teams require for PvE :(

At this point being in greens I think it's a gear gap issue.

There was someone here at the begging of MoP that had leveled paly and 4 shaman to 90.. then 5 palys.. he said the palys were easier than the ranged team, maybe due to all the passive healing from battle healer?

01-11-2013, 02:46 PM
ya I'd imagine pumping out that dps causes more healing. If your guys are doing 30k dps each, that's 10k offhealing per second to whoever needs it x4. 40k per second. Damn that's gotta be nice, only problem is their burst for pvp doesn't offset it ;/

I'm leveling 5 Paladins once I get my main team strong and get some gold stashed. Now that I am getting some gear and making some gold I don't want to jump on it just yet. Damn I wish 85-90 was quicker!

Having some movement problems with the Voss fight aswell, playing all ranged 3x ele 1 resto 1 prot paladin, Third phase just get to chaotic.

For Voss gear does help, but not panicking with all the crap going on was the bigger hurdle, heh.

For my team P1 is tank and spank. When she goes back to the center and starts to levitate, that's when I blow cooldowns and DPS her as much as possible until she's immune. You don't want to do it any earlier because you'll be wasting time if she Dark Blazes you. With my current gear, she doesn't even get to do the Dark Blaze, but when she does, everyone goes on follow, run through her and along the wall {Glyphed Riptides from the Resto Shaman to top off if anyone strays through the fire}.

Phase 2, everyone DPSes until she starts to cast Fixate. DeadlyBoss Mods alerts to whom she's casting it on and because of the cast time I get fair warning so I can gather everyone up. If she fixates on DPS, everyone goes on follow and I kite her until I get a good lead, turn, cast from range, kite again. If she fixates on my healer or tank, the healer stays on follow and I IWT my DPS so they can tear her up while she follows my tank/healer. If I've timed it right, my cooldowns should still be running for a bit to help burn out Phase 2 a bit.

Phase 3, with any luck my P1 burst should have gotten her really low. She'll Dark Blaze at the start, just have them all follow along the wall like before until they stop streaming fire, then use the same process as P2 on her.

I have enchanted all boots with the speedenchant, and spam follow while running the entire team around during the purple phase.
Depending on the gear you can get her to the 2nd phase without getting the purple shit.
Drop healing totems and/or using spiritwalkers grace also helps.

Hmm khat my team is guardian, enh. Shaman, fury warrior, hunter, holy paladin. The paladin is a great healer unless I have to move... Before I gear up, you think it might be wise to switch to Druid or shaman heals? Would it help with many of the heroics?

01-12-2013, 11:14 AM
That is the palies weak spot..not being able to spam insta heals on the move. Its why any other healer is better for movement fights where your taking damage. I think all the other heals have insta cast HoTs?

Really, I've been running Resto Shaman as a healer since forever. I was never impressed with the Druid for boxing in PvE and while I did run Holy Paladin when I first started boxing, I was never a fan of how stationary they had to be back in the day, so I never picked them up again. So I can't really be objective comparing them all as they stand these days.

All I can really say is that the shaman has never let me down or made me consider swapping, though I do go back and forth considering bringing in a monk just to see how they fair. But the small amount I experimented with them in beta left me feeling there was too much randomness and other junk to account for. If they took away resto shamans and I had to consider another healer, my order of preference, understanding that I haven't kept up with the changes much at all, would probably be

Paladin > Druid > Monk > Priest

But that's is very much personal preference based only solo play or group leveling. I haven't spent much time with any of those classes in a real boxing environment in some time. I'm sure there's plenty of other posters here that think all that is hogwash and I'm totally nuts, lol.

Best advice I can give is give it a shot. Things aren't going to change all that much with more gear because as your healer gears up, so do your other toons, so while the healer can do better or more efficient healing, your tank can take more of a beating and your DPS can kill faster. I'd easily say that 50% of the value of a healer is the playstyle and if the playstyle doesn't mesh for you, it's always going to feel abysmal and be more work than it's worth for you to make them run the way you want or expect.

I've been thinking about it, and I might replace my Druid and warrior. I'd need to level up more toons to 90 though. I am going to try resto shaman to see how it feels, but I would certainly miss my enhancment shaman. This is more evidence I need to level another comp to 90 and pick what works best for me. :)

Update: I didn't try the Shaman because I only have one at level 90 and I love it as Enhance. So, I changed my paladin to tank and my Druid to heals. Ill let you know how it goes once I gather some good data and comparisons! If the Druid isn't to my liking in going to level another shaman up from 80. I plan to try scholomance again tonight and see if it is much easier :)
