View Full Version : [WoW] Looking For Advice - One Team Only

Hi there folks,

TL;DR - I have very limited free time these days and I'm lazy. What team makes the most sense?

So lots of of changes going on in RL.

Our first kid is on the way with a due date in late January (awesome!!) and I'm going back to school (not so awesome) to get YAD (Yet Another Degree) starting in January.

This situation presents me with a very obvious time constraint. I figure that I may want to play a little WOW every now and then, but am not expecting to have any significant time to invest in leveling/researching multiple teams and keeping them topped up.

From a "What do I like" perspective my only real/long-term interest lies in non-rated Battle Grounds and (to be honest) pretty much only AV. Sometimes I do like to farm old dungeons, but only if they're really easy. I don't really enjoy leveling and suspect I won't have the time or inclination to spend learning more than one team per expansion anymore.

With that said the purpose of this request is to help me figure out what the team is that best suits my situation. Please no comments along the lines of, "play whatever you enjoy" ... what I enjoy is survivability while laying the smack down in AV. As a point of reference the pally + 4 DK combo during Cata was lots of fun for me. If you think that my question sounds like I'm looking for a nice easy team that I can be moderately successful in AV with, while putting in minimal efforts (read: time) then you've pretty much got it right.

So, in conclusion my question is this: Based on what we currently know about MoP, what team composition makes the most sense for me. If you feel so inclined a couple of sentences as to why would be cool. Ualaa can I just put you down for 5 Druids as a default (haha)?

My current teams at 85 are:
DK + 4 pallies
Pally + 4 DKs
5 hunters
5 mages
5 druids
5 shammies

I'm happy to level any one of them to 90.

Thanks to anyone that got past the TL;DR and has weighed in on this thread.

For straight battlegrounds, probably:
- 1x DK + 4x Ret
- 4x Ret + 1x DK
- 5x Shaman
- 4x Shaman + 1x Healer

I do like Druids... both Feral and Boomkin look to be decent (or better) in MoP.
They're a very fun class, and flexible with all roles (Tank, Heals, Melee and Ranged).
But I don't think either looks to be as strong as 5x Shaman or a mix of DKs & Rets.
If you wanted PvE and PvP, Druids would be my top choice.
I like that you can collect ground spawns, while in Flight Form.
I like that they can breathe underwater, with Aquatic Form.

I also really like the look of Demo Warlocks, possibly with 1x Healer.
But that means a team from 1st, which is a lot more time investment.

The 4x Shaman + 1x Healer...
If the healer is a Druid or Paladin, that gets you a tank for LFD.
Druid could run Boomkin, with Heart of the Wild, and be a passable short term healer; or spec straight Resto... and Guardian in instances.
Paladin could run Holy in battlegrounds and Protection in instances.
With only one team, mainly in PvP but with some PvE... I might go this route.

If you join a premade realid group, I would go with a mixed group, mostly hybrids.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking it's gonna be shammies this time around.

I have the same issue. I leveled a Druid & 4 Shamans and completed all the heroics and world boss. Most of the motivation for leveling Shamans was that boxing melee groups in Cataclysm heroics was a nightmare and I only wanted to manage one group.

Problem is, I can't stand PvP on boxed casters now. After playing DK's for so long, I'm too used to the mobility and speed and not having to deal with the LOS/silence nightmare. I rerolled to a melee team and I've found heroics just as easy as I did on my Shamans, with the added benefit that this team much stronger PvP-wise.

I've always said ranged are just better for boxing PvE, but at the moment it really doesn't matter. Might remain true for raid content, but heroics are a joke.

World Boss? yourself ( boxed ) ?

Not alone. It's a 40-man world boss that respawns every 30 minutes or so. You should be doing it every week, if you haven't been already. Free loots!

First time you do it, you can complete a quest that gives you free epic boots. Also gives you a bag once per week that has a chance to drop tier.

Just engaging the Boss with a raid gets the quest? i have not seen a quest for it.

Loot the boss, gives you an item that starts the quest. You have to be in the raid that flagged the boss to be eligible to loot, obviously.
