I think the stickies are not read and refered to as much as we would like because the fact there are too many.
Maybe look at refering to wiki pages and drop the number down, alot of the time there referring to the same thing too.
If there are just a couple there with good clear headings in what they have, maybe then they would be read more often.
Im sure the newcomers just see them and go, oh theres just too much ill just type a quick message.

i think its human nature... to see a forum that looks like a conversation style question & answer... and to try and pitch right in.

happens in IRC. guy comes in, asks a question.. and if no one responds within 30 seconds... he leaves.

skipping over stickies in the beginners haven is... forgivable... and answers are a bit less blunt. in the other forums, a quick mention of the search engine and a url drop is seen more often. i would hope we'd keep away from the RTFM mindset, and just be as helpful and friendly as possible... in the hopes that the newbies will shortly start pitching in to answer questions from others if they can.

communication... this is how a community gels... and becomes more then a reference site imho

I just want to take this opportunity to thank Ughmahedhurtz for suggesting to use the Search to search for things. Without that advice, I'm not sure where I'd be today. :D
