I recently found these forums and I have to say I feel like I found my new home! I have been thinking of doing something in regards to multi-boxing but due to other stuff going on I was unable to do so until now. There is a ton of great info on these forums and I hope to use it all as I progress and set up my 3 to 5 box system.

I have been botting for years but I was never able to bring my gaming to the level in which I was satisfied. I want to do this right so I will more than likely have a few questions along the way from those of you that have been doing this for several years. I have read through most of the guides already and have started trying to figure out exactly how I want to proceed. I definately know I want to three box at a minimum, but at the same time I would love to be able to run 4 locks and a priest. Something about being self sufficient in instances and being able to do basially anything I put my mind to that appeals to me. (I know there will be limitations)

Anyway I could probably rant on for a while about this. I just want to thank everyone that has already contributed to these forums!

OMG!!!!! You used the naughty word.

First rule of multi-boxing: It is *not* botting.

Botting gets you banned. Botting is unattended scripting.

We don't script.

I guess I used the wrong term. I usually run a tank character as my main and use a "heal bot" to heal and buff myself. No actual botting program, just the good ol fashing way of using two comps with two keyboards.

Botting = Your characters in-game running around collecting spoils while you sleep.

Multi-boxing = Your characters in-game running around collecting spoils while you type at your keyboard.

It's a very important distinction since Blizzard is suing a company for creating botting software:

I've only been multi-box'n for a few days and several players have already whispered me that they are reporting me for botting and I usually reply, "Go ahead, I strongly encourage you do so so more people can be educated about this and we can move on". So far, I have not been contacted by a GM. One person sent me a whisper, "3 box'n was so 2 years ago" for which I replied, "thanks for the info". Funny nonetheless.
