Ok, I've just spend two days rummaging through Newegg and Tigerdirect, trying to put together a good deal for my new equipment. It's starting to give me a headache, trying to find the best combination (especially the monitor) and best specs for my dollar. The customer reviews are especially causing me grief, cause shopping for a monitor is a risky proposition. I don't want to be stuck with dead pixels and no way to return for replacement. Summary:

I'm looking to spend between $500 and $600, and I want to get the best possible combination of 8800GTS card and 22" Widescreen to match. Here's my desires:

Video card: I'm looking for stability over speed. Therefore the overclocked models don't interest me, and I should be able to get a pretty good price. I want a 512mb card with at least 600mhz clock speed (Standard seems to be 630mhz, although I could be wrong as I'm not terribly familiar with the gpu.)

Monitor: I'm not sure if I'd notice the difference between 2ms and 4ms response time, but my coworkers are adamant that I want to get a 2ms. Any input on this? I also want to get as wide an aspect ratio as I can, because I really dig having a panoramic viewing area. My biggest worry with monitors, as mentioned before, is durability. I'm pretty sure I have a bit of an obsessive compulsive behavior when it comes to dead pixels, it's just something I can't live with.

Any input would be appreciated, this is getting a lot more confusing than I thought it would. ?(

I have one of the Samsungs mentioned above and I think it came with a 3 year warranty and a zero dead pixel guarantee. Very happy with it. I've got a 22" Dell at work and not happy with it at all. Black text on a grey background seem to flicker.

As far as monitors go, Theres not a huge diffrence between the 2ms and 5ms ones.

I would however recommend getting a monitor with a small bezel. Multiple monitors = multiple UGLY bezels.
