View Full Version : [WoW] Bad performance with ISBoxer

Hi,
Am taking a peek at returning to boxing Wow.
Using same PC since I stopped, only changed the layout of the monitors, and created a new layout in ISBoxer.
However, my main-wow performance is crap and unplayable somehow when I have started it through ISBoxer.
Starting the entire set or selecting the slot from the set does not really matter, main screen stays terrible slow (<10 fps)
When I do start the WOW-profile from ISBoxer, or just the wow.exe, the performance is like it used to be.
Any ideas what might be wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Do you have any addons installed, if so, make sure they are up-to-date. Download Jamba 1.0 beta3 (if you use Jamba). Since the last patch wow has become a bit more demanding as to your graphics adapter. Did you try to run it with all settings set to low?
Also, try disabling DX11 in wow (System -> Advanced)

All addons are uptodate, including jamba.
Things is, when I start it seperatly (so it becomes windowed) everything is fine. When I start it so it uses the windowslayout defined in the toolbox, it starts crawling.
Will try the DX11 tip.

Take a look at your graphic settings. On my main I have it set to High, but it's low on all my slaves. If they are all set high, I get what you described above.

Unfortunately thats not the case. Even when I start _only_ my main wow using the ISBoxers layout, it's crawling. Going back to DX9 does not help, still 9 fps in SW and in Elwynn 25...
GTX 560 Ti.
It used to go at 50-60fps in SW... which it does when I manually start wow.exe.

whats your region set up? Is it at 0,0 and whats the native resolution of your monitor?

Region Setup is 0,0.
Native resolution is 1680x1050, and thats also the size of the region.
Login screen is 60fps btw, disregarding if it's started with or without ISBoxer.
Really dont get it, even when I'm placing a manually started wow on top of the one started by isboxer, the isboxer one crawls, and the manually started one is at 78 fps.
Going to make some screenshots to illustrate it...

Here (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/wowweird.jpg) a screenshot.
And no, bg fps is not set to 15, but to 30... used to work.
Like you see, both are started from ISBoxer...

Start one only from isboxer. Click on it a bunch of times, so it is sure to have focus, sometimes a window will be on top but wont have focus and think its the background, also there is a slight delay when going from background to foreground.
Its not unusual you will have 15fps on a background set to 30fps.

I'm going to suggest looking at the graphics settings in game after you launch from ISBoxer. I don't really have enough details of your setup, but you do say it's been a while since you played and you haven't run a setup wizard, just altered your layout, so pretty much anything could be wrong, corrupted or changed.
Make sure that your not running on the wrong monitor. WoW has a setting in the game to run on a primary or secondary monitor. When it's set to one in game, it gets REAL pissy if you move it to the other.
Make sure Vsync is set properly. I have it off, personally, because if I don't have a steady 60+fps on my main, Vsync automatically throttles down to 30 FPS.
If all else fails, disable all addons and run the wizard again.

Did some more testing, facing walls: 60fps, facing crowd it drops.
Checked everything Khatovar and Sam said, everything is fine.
Did reinstall Windows yesterday and am now downloading everything and start from scratch.
Lets see what happens then.

That sounds exactly like in-game graphics quality settings.
Something to remember: ISBoxer virtualizes your Config.WTF file, meaning it has a different copy of Config.WTF for each Character you launch/play through ISBoxer. So when you launch a single character without ISBoxer, you may be loading it with different graphics settings than with ISBoxer. So make sure that when you're checking them, you do it when launched through ISBoxer!
You can reset any given Character to use the base config.WTF by going to your WoW\WTF folder, find the "Config-my character.WTF" file, and delete it. The file will be created from the main Config.WTF again when you launch him.

Only happened when the game runs through ISboxer, not when started with the .exe.
but:
Hi all,
It is solved. For now it seems.
Destroying all the wows and putting it back to DX9 like Lax (and others) have suggested did the trick.
No idea why, yesterday putting it back to DX9 did not solve it. Maybe a mix of something. No idea.
Regarding the screens, no unplugging on the gfxcard site has been done, only moving from right to left physically.
They remained at the same slot.
I'm happy it seems to work again, (50fps yippie), but the solution seems questionable.
Thank you all for thinking along!
Lets roll into Pandarian!
