Turn off UAC. It is incredibly easy to bypass it anyways.

Would you elaborate a bit please? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the other 99% of malware/spyware floating around that isn't smart/determined enough to break UAC.

Nah, I mean it would be over the head of most of the people on this forum anyways. This is one of those cases where "you'll just have to believe me". I have a few coworkers that write malware/exploits for various protocols and mainstream products, UAC will stop your average script kiddie, at least. You also have to realise that the same people writing exploits and malware are the same type of people that write incredibly dumb phishing email attempts - just because they figured out how to write a few lines of code, or spam a phishing email to millions of people, doesn't mean they are talented enough to do it correctly ;) But, if you would like to live in a paranoid world where you are warmed by the safe comfy blanket of UAC, be my guest. :D

Happy computing!
