So I saw the thread that stated that having different names on multi-boxing accounts can get you banned, but what about the boosting account? I'm in a pretty strange situation here: My main account has my name. My alt account has my 70 mage. The only catch is that the alt account was formerly my roommates who has long since quit the game and gave the account to me. So the alt account has his name. Now what I was going to do was open 3 new accounts with my name, make new toons on them, as well as one on my main account and use the mage to boost them all up to ~lvl 50. Would I be running a risk of getting everything banned here? Or would it only be a risk if the multi-boxed accounts had different names?

Apaprently yeah.

Blizzard is rather nazi about the account sharing rule, which I find rather annoying. Would be nice if at least family members could share accounts with out the ban stick.

Blizzard flat out told me in a post that "even well established couples sharing accounts is against the TOS". Basically, if the 5 accounts aren't all in your name expect a ban.

If you didn't buy the software, register the codes and pay in your name, then it's against TOS.

Edit: I actually pay for 6 accounts, 5 for boxing and my GF's account so I feel your pain. When (not if) we get married, you can submit a name change from a court and they will update the account information. That's about the only way to get it changed. But then again she hasn't logged into her account in over a month so I may not have to even worry about it. ?(

Ah that sucks. Well thanks for the responses... Well one more question to toss out there; which would be better for boosting, season 2/3 mage or a teir 6 pally (mostly holy gear but I could get a full prot set in a week since we shard everything at this point)? Trying to debate which toon to use to boost now.

I'd have to say it's a toss up, the time getting new gear for the pally may be better served in AOE running SM or something else. I wish I would have leveled a AOE toon first instead of a priest.....

Well I'm not starting till next week no matter what (don't want to start during midterms) and I'm in a pretty elite us raiding guild with the pally that has been farming t6 content to the point where if I just asked nicely I would get basically a full set of prot gear in.... 7 hours. I'm just worried with the pally that aoe grinding higher level instances would be much slower than with a mage.

It's pretty hard to AoE in a L50+ instance as a Mage... Protection Paladin has a slower kill rate, but a slower dying rate too. A T6 geared Paladin will be damn near invincible in Strat/Scholo, even in the early Outlands instances the damage you take is low. (Actually, it's theoretically possible to reach 100% avoidance against L70 melee mobs, but the gear to do so is pretty esoteric and hard/expensive to get even if you're doing T6 stuff)
