View Full Version : [ISBoxer] Sound not working when I launch WoW with Innerspace.

I noticed a small issue with WoW sound. When I use the normal game launcher in game sound works normally. When I launch WoW with Innerspace, even just a single instance of WoW, there is no sound. Nothing I seem to adjust in game seems to change this. My headphones are not muted. Any thing I use out side wow - like my music player, or Netflix in a browser in the background all work fine. I'm stumped on this one. Thanks to any one ahead of time who knows a work around for this issue. :)

There's a sound setting in the game... did you look at it when using ISBoxer?

When using the Quick Setup Wizard for WoW, ISBoxer sets up a Character-specific Config.WTF file -- which stores your sound settings, graphics settings, stored account name, realm and character selections. The first time you log into a character using ISBoxer, his Config.WTF file is created based on the current contents of the actual Config.WTF file. So if you had sound off in WoW at the time in the main (non-ISBoxer) config, that guy will have that setting too, until you change it on this specific guy.

Ah. I will try this. Thanks Lax.

Unfortunately I have not been able to fix this yet. I logged into every last character and made sure sound was enabled. No effect on actually turning the sound on while using ISBoxer. I guess the next step is rerun the wizard? I hope I don't have to wipe my all my team data..lol

What about Ctrl+S, was that somehow enabled or in conflict with an ISB keybind?

Tried it. Ctrl+S is not key bound to any thing. I tried blowing away all the character specific Config.wtf files. Nothing. When I launch with the regular game launcher I have sound. If I launch with ISBoxer no sound. I am unsure of the next step to take.

I did a full uninstall, re install of ISBoxer, including removing all folders associated with it. The no sound problem wile using ISBoxer remains. Might this be a problem in the characters actual WTF folders?

Do you just have just one place that WoW is installed? if not could the main executable path in Innerspace be incorrect?

I have wow in one folder on my c drive. I do also have the beta wow client installed, but on my E drive. I have not used ISBoxer with the beta though. Just straight the default every thing on the beta.

Are you running win 7 in any variation? I've had win 7 64 bit resest sound options i.e.-some reboots system defaults to head phone for all audio.Even then some games-swtor for one will use speakers for audio or sometimes vice versa (using current ISboxer). I am not sure what causes the reboot variations-but all works well for a few reboots once manually changed on sound settings for windows. I do run System Mechanic in the background to fix errors and other problems and think their "definitions" may play a large part in this this-hasn't happened in a month or two.

I do run windows 7. Sound for every thing else is working fine. It is just not working for wow with IS boxer. I would love a fix for this please Lax. I have tried multiple log ins with all my toons to make sure sound is on. Thanks ahead of time for any help on this issue. :)

yeah I hate thread Necro as much as the next gal.... but I am having the same issue. When I launch WoW with ISBoxer OR Innerpsace - no sounds at all. I cant seem to find it in any of the setups/wizard stuff. I am using: ISBoxer Toolkit version 41.6.911.1 InnerSpace version 1.11 build 5899. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your WoW instances are probably muted in Windows. Check the volume thing in the system tray.

Once again with the necro. Sorry, but I've just encountered this problem myself.

Sometimes, in the past, sound has gone a little wonky when I switch from speakers to my USB headset, or back, after the game is running. It's like the game doesn't get the message that I've changed output devices. Usually a restart of the game, if not the computer, fixes this. I don't remember if this is a problem that only started once I switched to Win7 or if it was an issue before, but I've noticed it in the past.

However, an hour or so ago I unplugged my USB headphones to switch to speakers once ISBoxer was started and now I have no sound in the game. I've relaunched the game. I've restarted my computer. I've checked my audio settings in both windows and the game. I've tested both sets of speakers. No joy.

Halp?

Update: I logged in with another character set to see if the problem was online in the configs for the character set I was logged into at the time, but it isn't. None of my character sets have audio now.

Update 2: Deleted character configs and character sets. Uninstalled and re-installed innerspace/ISBoxer. Still no sound, but again, only when launching through Innerspace.

I found info from Lax about this here:
http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=4157

I think this is what fixed it from Lax:

Try enabling "Mute background game window audio and un-mute foreground game window audio" in your Character Set?

That appears to have done the trick, thank you!
