A lot of macros here voilate the simple rule that you cannot have two spells in a macro which trigger the global cooldown.

Here is a list for prot pal that do not tirgger the global cooldown, sadly there is no way to get this information except to look up each spell on wowhead, unless someone knows how to data mine the spells data file.

If someone wants to do the spells for other classes Ill provide a table with the spells listed like below, but without the gcd timing. Also this is just for prot with the spicific talents I selected.

Righteous Fury

Reckoning

Required Level 15

30 yd range 3% of base mana

8 sec cooldown Instant

Avenging Wrath

Increases all damage and healing caused by 20% for 20 sec.

Guardian of Ancient Kings

Required Level 75

30 yd range

5 min cooldown Instant

Summons a Guardian of Ancient Kings to help you heal for 30 sec. The Guardian of Ancient Kings will heal the target of your next 5 single-target heals, and nearby friendly targets for 10% of the amount healed. Every time the Guardian heals, it increases your haste by 10%.

Guardian of Ancient Kings

Required Level 75

30 yd range

3 min cooldown Instant

Summons a Guardian of Ancient Kings to protect you for 12 sec. The Guardian of Ancient Kings reduces damage taken by 50%.

Guardian of Ancient Kings

Required Level 75

30 yd range

5 min cooldown Instant

Summons a Guardian of Ancient Kings to help you deal damage for 30 sec. The Guardian of Ancient Kings will attack your current enemy. Both your attacks and the attacks of the Guardian will infuse you with Ancient Power that is unleashed as Ancient Fury when the Guardian departs.

Lay on Hands

Required Level 16

40 yd range

10 min cooldown Instant

Heals a friendly target for an amount equal to your maximum health. Cannot be used on a target with Forbearance. Causes Forbearance for 1 min.

What all this means is you can write a macro:

/cast Lay on Hands
/cast Ardent Defender
/cast Crusader Strike

Whereas you cannot write a macro:

/cast Crusader Strike
/cast Consecration

Incorrect, you can not make a macro which will USE two abilites which BOTH activate the global cool down, from ONE button press.

One such example was (doesn't work anymore, is/was not allowed):

/in 1 /cast lightning bolt
/in 3 /cast lava burst

But if you have a macro with both spells in it which you have to press twice to get both to fire, then that is fine.

One such example is:

/castsequence flame shock, lava burst

(pretty dumb macro but you get the idea)

Your statement is correct if you have to press more then one time (like with /castsequence) then it will work.

My examples were macros that fire with a single key press.

I think I misread what you were saying in the first post, my bad. A lot of macros which have spells in them which all trigger the gcd have to be spammed to fire them all off yes, and are iffy at best.

I think I misread what you were saying in the first post, my bad. A lot of macros which have spells in them which all trigger the gcd have to be spammed to fire them all off yes, and are iffy at best.

Such as the following macro for my Hunter I posted in other threads:

/cast Cobra Shot
/cast Explosive Shot
/cast Arcane Shot
/cast Black Arrow
/cast Kill Shot

You can use this macro, but you have to spam it several times a second for it to fall through to the next spell in the list. As of now, this is working for my hunter and I'm pulling around 20k on the target dummies without buffs/cooldowns with an ilvl of around 389, give or take a point or two.

You can spam this to fire off more than just the Cobra Shot, BUT, if you just sit there and press it sparingly, or once or twice before the global cool down cycles through, it will only keep casting the Cobra Shot. Us multiboxers learn to spam a macro such as this, or the others shared on this site multiple times a second, I've shared my rotations with others in the past and they claim it doesn't work for them or they tend to only press it when the global cool down makes it's rotation, which will make the macro unusable.

Tho these do in fact share the same global cool down, they will not all be used at the same exact time. The only way that say Explosive Shot in this can possibly be used at the same time as other spells, unless I'm wrong on this, is when Lock and Load procs it as a free cast and it fires without triggering the GCD.
