So I am new to the dual boxing scene, just got started using keyclone and I have been playing/messing around trying to get a hang of things.

I have a grasp on controlling the warior and mage (I drive from the Warrior) but I have a question regarding following and then having the Mage stop to cast after I charge or move in with my war.

I don't want to have the Mage run in to where the warrior is and be close before he starts casting. I have thought about hitting back or strafe on the mage to disengage auto follow and have him cast but I wonder if there is a more efficient route since I may end up putting him out of casting range still.

I eventually plan on doing dungeon finder runs with these two before I split them up as I have higher level toons to pair them up with, but right now I want that RAF bonus.

Anyone have some input?

What you can do (i dont know if this is possible with keyclone, but shouldnt be a problem), is bind your charge key with a move backwards for the mage.. so if you press the charge button, the mage will step back and stop follow.
Let me know if it (doesn't) work!

I use my arrow key to control my alt“s - that way I can break follow/move them out of bad stuff etc.

For now I will try out strafing after my warrior charges in and start my cast sequence macro. Eventually I want to setup an autohotkey script for my mage so all I can focus on my warrior more.

Friend of mine who helped me get started with dual boxing tells me that it's going to be hard and inefficient using this combo because of this reason (charge and follow and mage being in close range) so I am going to have to get creative it seems.

The arrow keys is also something I want to try. I think in the end its not going to be as bad as I thought it would be, thanks for the suggestions.

Anyone else that has some ideas please throw them out there :).

Oh and this is the best forum by far, thanks for all the info that's out there everyone!

As someone who's entire team, barring the healer, is melee, I call foul. There is nothing inefficient about running melee and ranged together. If that were the case, no one would ever run anything. Tank + ranged is standard practice.

Hitting a strafe key is not difficult and is probably one of the smallest issues you'll run across while boxing. In my setup, I tap q to strafe and break follow then hit 1 to initiate combat as my tank runs up to pull range. The tank pulls, shamans drop totems, melee follows the tank again leaving the healer back with the totems. As with anything else, it's a move that becomes second nature with some practice, just like hitting follow every time you leave combat.

You certainly didn't pick the easiest of combos to start off with. Maybe try two of the same class/spec and preferably ones that can heal if needed for your first time. After you get the hang of everything go back to warrior/mage - however, I don't think that will be your first (later) choice.

It won't be too bad. If you're using Keyclone, I think hotstrings are what you're looking for. (http://solidice.com/keyclone/faq_hotstring.html) That basically lets you tell the mage to strafe/backup/etc. when you press the charge button on your warrior.
