View Full Version : Channeled spells, button mashing, and you!

Hey guys. I *was* running prot pally, 2 ele shamans + holy (healer) priest. I decided to respec the priest to shadow.

Now I had never previously played a class that primarily used channeled spells for damage. I have been having a really tough time with it.

Against non-elites, stuff dies within 3-5 seconds... so the dots will have no time to tick. So i've been sticking with mind blast + mind flay. However, when i mash the main nuke button (to keep the shamans constantly casting lightning bolt), my priest keeps interrupting his own mind flay. So i end up getting like, 1 tick per cast, when i should be getting 3. Is there any way to keep mind flay from interrupting itself?

I'm seriously considering speccing the priest back to holy, i think i would do more dps with smite-spam.

Apparently you can use [nochanneling] by itself to indicate ANY channeling. More useful to warlocks as they have multiple channeling spells like Drain Life, Drain Soul, Drain Mana, Hellfire, Rain of Fire, Health Funnel.

So...


/cast [nochanneling] Mind Flay

...should work as well if you don't want to interrupt any channeling you might be doing.

on a side note, here's my cast rotation for instances (i'm bored, my realm is down =/):

/target focustarget
/castsequence [nochanneling] reset=target, vampiric embrace, vampiric touch, shadow word: pain, mind blast, mind flay, mind flay, mind blast, mind flay, mind flay

I have 1 pt in improved mind blast so that the cooldown of mind blast drops to 7.5 seconds, low enough to allow a MB+flay+flay rotation.

anyone else created a complete rotation like this so they only have to spam 1 button still? ^_^

EDIT: btw the nochanneling modifier works like a champ now! I *was* pulling less than 1/2 the dps of my ele shamans, now im up to more like 3/4 their damag
