View Full Version : RAF to boost monk, but have 10 85s already

So here's the story. My main account has 10 85s, one of each class. I'd like to grant a monk to 80 when MoP releases. Is there any way to do this without deleting one of my lvl 85 characters before MoP comes out and allows the 11th character slot?
I was thinking that perhaps I could level up several characters on a separate server, then transfer them over when MoP releases... would that work?
Alternatively I guess I could just not dual-box and level those characters solo without the experience bonus. But man, I'd hate to do that.

You could transfer five characters, 1 from each account to another server to make a slot free- then move them back again afterwards. Not a cheap option though.

That's true. That is a lot of money, though.
If there's no other option, I guess I'll just RAF the monk when MoP comes out for the experience bonus and not grant levels.
Actually, now that I think about it, I could get a third account and level up the RAF granters there, then buy another copy of MoP, grant levels to the monk, and transfer him to my main server.... eh, big pain in the butt, though.

I heard they are increasing the character limit to accommodate those who have 1 of every class already.

Yes, but not until the expansion actually releases.

It would require two more accounts, but you could recruit two more accounts, boost with an existing character, then grant the levels to your main account in MoP (monk in the new slot).
(Still new to this, but I believe this is right).

Move a single/delete character (if you have any fresh 80 it might be the cheaper option to delete them) off the account to free a slot to create a new character, then do RaF multiple times (deleting or transfering the existing character when they hit 80 the first time) so that you have at least 80 levels to grant when Mop comes out, then create your Monk and gift level to 80 ( I think you may still have to do the starter zone if you choose Padarian, not sure). Also make sure you have gotten the character getting the granted levels up to 98 -99% of their current level which essentially gives you a level 81 out of the gate.

There is no need to delete a character:
1. register the new account on a different bnet account, obviously in the same name to follow the ToS.
2. make a lvl 1 toon on the new account on the same realm where your 10x 85s are (and on the faction you will play monk)
3. on your main account make a new lvl 1 toon on any realm, make sure it's same faction as 2
4. enable realID on both
5. you are now able to invite your new account with your old one to a group, and queue for dungeons, RAF bonus will apply
6. Mop hits: create 11th toon, a monk, and grant him levels with new account
- the drawback here is that you won't be able to provide the new account with heirlooms, unless you transfer over a toon
- it only works if you use 2 bnet accounts, you are not able to invite another account on your bnet cross realm

So I presume doing it this way means queueing with 5 toons of the same level and then kicking one to replace with the high level booster? Or am I not understanding this correctly?

The OP didn't say a word about 5 toons or 5 accounts. To me it sounds like he has 1 account, and just buys a new one for the sake of raffing a monk.

This would work:
1. Send a RaF invite to a new account.
2. Level up a couple toons on the new account before MoP hits.
3. When MoP hits start a monk on your old account.
4. Grant all the levels to your monk.

I ended up just waiting for 5.0.4 to go live for the extra character slot. I already have a 21, a 41, and a 52. Just got to get the 52 to 80, which I don't imagine will take long. Thanks for the responses!
