View Full Version : [WoW] 10 Boxing - My perspective

I've been seeing a rising interest in 10 boxing these last few months, and I thought I would share my own personal experiences and thoughts about it in order to generate a helpful and meaningful collection of information for those considering the jump. I have had 10 accounts since the end of wrath/early cata, but not all accounts were active during that time. I took quite a few breaks , and dropped back down to 5 accounts at times.

In my PvP experience, having 10 toons isn't much different from having 5. With 10, you pretty much limit yourself to AV and IoC (unless you get crazy now and then and solo WSG). Once you get to these kinds of numbers, it becomes a game of how much howling blast you can spam. The thing I miss the most being a 10 boxer in pvp is EotS. It is my favorite BG, and I haven't done it in some time due to the nature of my setup.

I wish I had more PvE experience 10 boxing (or pve boxing in cata with any number). I pretty much gave up on PvE in Cata because I burned myself out in Wrath farming Heroics like a boss. What little experience I do have boxing pve is a bit brutal. If you have trouble with 5, imagine 10! I know there are people that have been doing it, but it isn't for the faint of heart. You have to be damn good and damn dedicated to pull it off. don't expect it to be easy.

In conclusion, I have determined that running 10 toons really doesn't give you much more to work with than having 5.

Anyway, this was mostly a thought dump since I often post 1 liners. Let me know what you guys think.

Cheers.

I play alliance on stormrage, remember seeing a 5 boxing shaman in quite a few eots, as a single hunter i knew it meant I was dead unless others helped kill ya. 10 in AV has to be a complete pain in the ass to kill.

I play 8 shams these days and bump it up to 9 with a prot pally for pve. I'm in the process of gearing a resto druid as well for healing to see if that makes pve easier for me. I only take the 8 shams to LFR and that is a lot of fun, it gives a lot of focussed burst for events such as elementium bolt and blistering tentacles which can wreck a raid.

I use keyclone and don't really want to spend the time to switch over to ISboxer so video feeds and click healing with the druid is out of the equation for now. I'll just keep slowly tuning and re-tuning my set up to include it effectively I guess, just like how I added my tank in.

As for pvp, the 8 shams dominate a LOT more than the original 4 I used to run. I only do AV/IoC atm but they are 2 of my fav BGs and I'm only HK farming until the end of cata anyway. Since rolling with 8, I have earnt 5 stormpike perfections in the last 2 weeks, whereas I had managed just the 3 total in the previous 4 years.

I do find 8 harder to co-ordinate than 4

nice, I box 6 Shamans, in pvp, and I find it enough for me I could add 7th as another healer but I stick with 6.

im doing 5 hunters atm, loving them and waiting on MOP for point blank, gunna be brilliant against melee, in pvp at last. My main is a hunter. Prior was x5 boxing ele shammys, but that was boring for me.

Now its 5 hunters and I added my priest so 6, but I am thinking of activating 1-2 dead accounts, and xfering 2 shammys to those accounts and going x8, usually my fiance tags along with his prot pally if we are raid farming mounts, or brings his mage or shammy for pvp.

My first team was 5 shamans, and then 5 feral druids, 5 warlocks, 5 mages, 5 pallies, and 1 pally with 4dks.
After watched another boxer who play 15 toons, i decided to move to 10 toons. My first choice was 10 dks. And later on i added 2 holy pallies with 10 dks as a full team.
Compare "1pallies 4dks" with "2pallies 10dks" which is totally different world. 5 toons is easily, 10toons(12 toons) is real hard to handle. Let say IWT and CTM, some of toon must get rape or lost control because of lots opponents. And instant heal is much better on large boxes group.
Recently i purchased a i7 machine and plan to move to 20 toons( 10 dks, 10 ele shamans/ 5 ele, 5 reto shaman). It doesn't look make sense on my case, melee and caster. But it does worth to try something different on PVP. Make it fun~
