I'm waiting to see if it is multibox-able. I may resort to single play if it is good enough.

I still havent seen any videos or read any articles about this game. I think I may do a little research since it is getting such a following.

Anyone going to play this? Would be nice be on the same server, like we did in tera before it failed. Me and the wifflebat are down for whatever.

I bought a CE, I'll be playing with my bro's guild. Hope its launch was nothing like today's stress test. Ugh.

hahaha which stress test did you do? the 9th or the 10th? the 9th was a shocker with people not being able to get on for 30 mins.
The 10th was a better but i did dc 2 or 3 times.
Im playing on "Sea of Sorrows"(us) because it is the unofficial Australian server (from what i have read) also the "mmo champions"[mmo champion guild] is rolling there *might not be a good thing*)
Not sure if ill be multi-boxing but it doesn't have a sub fee so i can't see why not.
The only downsides i have noticed are:
1) You only have 5 character slots per server (you can buy more for 800 gems each, 800 gems= $10 aus)
2) I believe you a stuck on the 1 server unless you pay gems to transfer off it (1800 gems for a full server 500 for a low- i didn't look at any others *could be wrong*)
i did spy a way to turn gems into in game currency and vice versa (though i think this is player driven)

ps my friend didn't get booted off the stress test until he tried to change zones 20 mins after the stress test "ended", if you want to get a bit more play time if they do another stress test

Well i guess we can try out the Sea of Sorrows server. The WvW pvp isnt limited with a a cap like TB is in wow, so it wont matter.

I usually play during the day. CST

If the lagfest is to bad we can move later.

Has anyone managed to dual box GW2 ?

As far as I know there are no follow commands, but might have seen a rumor somewhere that prepared multi-boxed it.

Seems more of a call of duty type game than an MMO tbh. Not sure how boxing would be possible/plausible since its not a tank/healer/dps game.

From my observations over the years half the reason people box is to do the impossible to challenge themselves, push the limits, destroy our misconceptions about gaming and leave them in dust. Whenever a game comes out and people tell you guys it can't be done. Some smart cookie goes and multiboxes it with extreme skill.

At this point in the beta there is no follow command, Nothing what so ever like COD or a shooter. 100% an MMO. People are just not used to dodging etc themselves instead used to letting umm.....maths do it for them. Its a change but a ever increasing one in the MMO world that I see taking over as a staple in MMO's.

I am not sure what makes you think it can not be plausible since its not a rock/paper/siccors game, It is just a new style yes it takes more attention, Yes it takes more physical adaptation(For example to dodge in GW2 its about timing, reaction time, angle. When for the last decade+ we have been using a calculator to find out if we can dodge that attack.

People are worried you won't be able to box it because you need to time, dodge, react on all toons. There is no rotation, There is no set up. There is concentrate and hit the right button at the right time on the right angle from the right position. But if 5?. 8? years ago I came here and said "You can't do well in high rated 5v5, 5 real world ranked pvpers will trouse you. Which should be true on so many levels. This is is mostly about PvP and people are dumb. I can see someone pulling it off

Prepared is a glorified attention whore(Who protrudes the stereotypical no life pathetic boxer a lot of people see us as) He just fails all around. He tries to make money with his lies but is far to dumb (A good one being his current promotion of Pwnboxer but obviously using ISboxer and asking for help many times. Hell if Lax was not an honorable guy that decided to run his business to the letter he could of told prep to piss off and left him in the dark, Prep obviously needs the help lol)

Boxing anything is possible. Without a follow command and the gaming being proactive like call of duty, it shows little benefit in PvP. Unless the game totally fails there will be a huge following, and I don't see it being a very enjoyable game to box. The main focus of this game is pvp and not pve. There are no healing classes, and the only way i see it being beneficial is if you created a wall of static players at a place and defend. Maybe 5 Fire elems or something for AoE.

Also, getting to the place is going to take forever, as the maps are humongous. The game is also $60 a copy, and I don't see it being very beneficial at the current time.

I will probably two box it when i get comfortable, but that would only probably be for a healing turret, or a fire wall.

All we can do is /hope for a /follow. Regardless it comes out friday, and i am stoked.

Sounds like TERA's combat system?

This game is nothing like tera. The pvp system IS just like COD. You even have a last stand where you can bring yourself back to life.

There are so many things going on. So many different ways to play your class. Even using WATER specific attacks.

This is a FPS MMO.

I am on Sea of Sorrows. Add Candlebox.6783 to friends list.

I'm on Jade Quarry. Seems to be pretty nice so far. World Vs World pvp is nuts... 100 people going crazy taking castles, Defending towers.... its like Wow and Dark ages of Camelot had a pvp baby and named it Guild wars 2.

Sounds like TERA's combat system?

Been gone a awhile got into a few games. As I see below and in-game a lot of people think its the same as a FPS I stick to my statement. I guess that is community opinion I have been single boxing it a little and do not think its anything like any shooter I ever played(Its not like in GW2 I run around pumping shells into corners I know people commonly camp) I am not hiding behind a rock to shoot someone in the head. Anyone who goes head on in CoD was not a very good FPS player. I also can't kill 5 people in 2 seconds on GW2 :P., Do not forget the double/triple kills with one bullet.

candlebox
08-28-2012, 02:58 PM
Well should we compare it to halo then? If you stand still you get killed. If you roll you miss bullets. If you hit V you dodge. The only class that moving out of the way wont matter are the ranged classes. Which even those you can roll out of damage.

The OP classes are starting to shine. It will be interesting to see what happens when all chars are in 80 gear.

I am starting to wonder about multiboxing this game. I might do some research into it. It will be extremely difficult due to mechanics, but i think it would be worth a couple eles.

i think ill be setting up a second account to test it, i needed to get a feel for how some of the other classes played to find the best suitable companion to my Mesmer main. I think a Ranger (or Elementalist) might be the key.

I was able to play a ranger to about 6 really fast last night to get an idea of its ranged-ness. I just really need to see how the movement is going to work. The Assisting functions will work ok, but the follow may get me in the end, i do move around a lot and randomly.

Only real benefit i see from a second account resource wise is being able to mail stuff back and forth for storage, since your unable to mail things to yourself.

Edit: i think i should try an engineer as well, i think they may be useful for totems-like abilities.

You may be able to get it to work in areas that are clutter heavy by using the walls and whatnot to stack your toons back up. I was really looking forward to this game being box-able, but once again my hopes have been dashed.

Yeah its still an awesome game though. I got the boxitis, but really don't want to leave GW2.

I agree with the toon stacking though at objectives. A buffing class is about all that you will benefit from. Its not like you have to target things though, the game automatically targets for you.

I am enjoying my necro for the moment, but we will see where that goes.

Btw Meeo im on Northern Snowpeaks since they were dominating the SoS and that RP server on the wvw map.

I really can't explain it, but i'm almost ready to quit this game. I've grinded out about 40 levels and i'm just not enjoying it. Sad, because on paper it seems awesome. In game it is too, but then that wears off and i'm ready to log. I mowed the lawn early this week! Who does that?!

I am kind at that point right now, 45 with mesmer and the grind is showing, like any other game except i cant box this one. Its still a great pve game, WvWvW is okay. I hope this all gets better in the long run, ill probably get to 80 eventually but i wont rush it like i usually do on a normal mmo.

haha i havent leveled at all really...no point when you can pvp with the premade guys

you are getting stomped in WvW as well. The only reason to level is for the WvW pvp.
